Although it's not a favorite painting, I'm glad
I'm following in the footsteps of one of my favorite
painters (although hardly comparing!) and painting
WHERE I LIVE, WHERE I WALK, the area close by:
Andrew Wyeth.
THANKS Sean....

I responded to this with my phone ~ and I lost it some how. Of course, as a child, I was 170 miles north of here.
And we lived with the North Shore of Lake Superior as a...God! or maybe an incredible THING. It is an inland sea,
with fresh water. And I miss it terribly...and the smells of the earth. I suppose the winters are a good deal more rough.
Well, I KNOW they are.Β And ..you're right, there are some fishy-looking things on all that texture. I'm going to send
you my best painting ~ personal fave ~ for the last year Trish. I was able to let go..and play with the drawing a bit.
Thanks for your super comments....HUGS from dick... Β

I'm glad...most people see...like,Β an Indian. Never have I been much
into Wagner, although he did write some admirable overtures ~ to 6-hour operas! How crazy is THAT?
richard
THANKS for writing..

Why is it that we remember so much joy in our childhood that involves some kind of water (lake, river, stream) love all the texture (kind of fish) on the left side.

Well, for me, I was raised by a SUPER HUGE BODY of water: Lake Superior's North Shore...Duluth Minnesota.
And my friends and I visited streams where we did find crayfish under rocks...left them alone though.
My dad also took my brother and I fishing in lake close by. But, yes. We remember water.
Β And now that you mention it, some of those textures are fish-like. Thanks for writing Ingeborg. Always
love your comments! Richard

"Once upon a time there were three Bears living in a brick house in the woods. A papa bear (that's YOU)
Β and and mama bear, and a baby bear. Then, all of a sudden along came Little Red Riding
Hood and blew their house all to hell, went inside and enjoyed all the food the bears had stored in
the pantry. Meanwhile, Hansel and Gretel joined in the feast, and it wasn't long before...."
There. Happy? Richard (THANKS)

THANKS. this morning I blocked in some leaves over the face. The problem with
this piece is that it has large acreage of similar texture/value etc. But I didn't want the
face to be too prominent...and it still is a bit. THX again!!!!

I don't feel it's too prominent.. it has its place in the art, but it's not overwhelming..
