I must relate that I was coming off a period of a steep
learning curve with Photoshop and Illustrator, in the hopes
of getting freelance work after losing my career in the
graphic arts/via advertising. Photography has been a hobby
since I was 7, but when I was employed for those 35 years,
I DIDN'T NEED to learn these programs ~ the production people
who executed our ad ideas DID that work, in PS and Adobe Illustrator.
So, to make a short story long, I was really transitioning into
more of my favorite w/c painting. I'm glad you like the piece
Coco...I submitted it within my first week on dA, and it got
basically zero response. I was crushed (in those days)...no longer
too crushed. Also, I've never been much of a DARK artist. Just
humorously DARK!!!! Hugs: dick (THANKS!)

I know what you mean, Dick ~ about the learning curves. Although I've been using the program Ultra Fractal for such a long time, there are still so many features I haven't explored, so I admire your tenacity in combining both the traditional and digital art forms. Actually it's a rather ornate glass lamp which I shot at
night with only the lamp light on, and sent it, along with its
reflection on the wall into (originally) Photoshop 7 ~ and started
playing, with the Blending Modes, smudge tool etc etc. (It was one
of the first pieces I posted in 2010, and it got no comments. Seems
when one scans a gallery, we all seem to just look at the first
two pages on the stack ~ then stop. I'm guilty too, most of the time).

Sounds complicated Dick....but enjoyable!!!...and I joined too many groups as a watcher....:icongrrplzI've just deleted 2000 devs because 2 of the groups have no restrictions and just post devs by the hundred!so maybe I may have lost some others!

I have come to truly believe that the joining of groups is what
make people sit at their computers all day, and watch their "page
numbers" and comments climb. I've decided I'd rather be doing art,
or playing the piano of doing yoga, than sitting at a computer. It's
that simple. I've heard a statistic that in 20-30 years more than
one half of the US's population will be categorized OBESE. I have
no doubts why this is happening!
