"Chicago Skyline", 24"x36", oil on canvas. Visited Art Institute of Chicago after quite a few years and got very much inspired by the paintings in the Impressionism gallery. The way the Impressionists mixed the color and used the brush strokes really encouraged me to loosen up, not focusing too much on the detail but the whole picture. How the light and color of the objects affect each other should be addressed first and foremost. It reminds me the process of how I used to dance tango, worrying too much about being perfect with each step but forgetting about the freedom, the expression, and the enjoyment to where I am now as a dancer. What I liked the most about this painting was really letting it go and not being constrained within the reality: be wild, be free, be myself. Will post the original photo I took for comparison.
