Description This view looks north over the Green River downstream from Echo Park is where the Green and Yampa Rivers join in Dinosaur national Monument, Colorado. The folded rocks were deformed by movement on the Mitten Park Fault. The light brown canyon walls are formed from the Weber Sandstone of Pennsylvanian age. The Weber formed from lithified sand dunes that blew in from the north. In the distance on the left are the snow covered Uinta Mountains.

Everything looks so level and symmetrical and then your eye is suddenly drawn to that dramatic uplift down on the left!

The fault screams out on the canyon wall, but it dies out less than a mile to the north and to the south.
