Description I was driving from Hartford, Connecticut back home this morning. A heavy rainstorm led to several car accidents on I-84 West.

Slow down, people!

Traffic came to a stop for a while and I took this shot of the truck in front of me.

I love very much this kind of beauty.
The fact that this was shot through the glass adds much to the image.

Thank you! Through the glass, yes - got to work with whatever conditions are at hand!

Thank you. I always tell myself not to leave the house without my camera - and this particular time I had taken my own advice

I hope that lock is more trustworthy than it looks

It's like the the Rock of Gibraltar

I stole your style for this shot even more than usual, thanks for leaving the door unlocked when I came by for it

I have to mention that thin yellow wedge at top right. I didn't want that in there - but if I cropped it out I hurt the top of the "9". If I removed it with a slight rotation of the shot, horizontal lines further down were skewed in a way I did not like. So - there it stayed! Best I could do under these conditions.

It is only the best who get copied, of course
Cropping - so often it is a greater challenge than taking the picture itself

well only the best are copied by the most discerning

yes, it's a moment to shoot and so long to make the image right after. i cropped and rotated and rotated and cropped

great capture, Richard! (in spite of the disturbing circumstances) i wouldn't have guessed what it was...!
even the raindrops add an artistic touch to the composition

thank you!

no one was hurt on the highway as far as i could tell but there were some sad people sitting in their cars waiting for tow trucks.

i like those raindrops too

looks fine , the heavy construction of metal and blurred raindrops form interesting contrast on the image .
A month ago or so i was about to take similar shot of a truck , i was driwing beyond it , but we were going 100 km / h , shooting it would have been too dangerous - maybe i have to paint it from memory

RichardLeach In reply to 7markus7 [2013-06-04 13:03:57 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, Markus. Yeah, can't shoot at that speed! I've wanted to get many other shots while driving but seldom have the chance.

It was fortuitous that you happened to be stuck behind such a photogenic vehicle.

RichardLeach In reply to hummbuzz [2013-06-04 17:28:35 +0000 UTC]

Wouldn't that driver be surprised to find his truck here!

hummbuzz In reply to RichardLeach [2013-06-04 18:07:23 +0000 UTC]

Indeed! If you had been stuck behind, say, a silver Prius, it might have been a much less entertaining (not to mention creative) traffic jam.

RichardLeach In reply to ebbing-gale [2013-06-03 23:41:52 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, Diane. My photos - with some exceptions - do tend to look like my collages. Yes, the rust contrasted with the bright colors caught my eye.
