did you try CTRL ALT DELETE? followed by closing WE?
if not try that, if so try shunting down your computer for a few minutes before starting it back up, then install CCleaner (don't worry it's completely safe (assuming you don't do something stupid like tell it to wipe your head dive) and prtitty small) and then tell it to clean any data you don't think is necacary like your temporary internet files, ext. then when that's done maybe try defraging your heard dive
if THAT dos'nt work, then something is probably seriously wrong with your computer and you should run a FULL Anit Viris scan on youer computer with any and all Anit Viris and Anti malwere programs you have installed, and then get someone who knows what there doing to look at it

I only have a lousy ISP and lots pf physical memory, nothing to worry about. Defragmentation And task manager always fix my problem.

I use Windows 7...which never freezes for me, no matter how much of a load I throw at it!
It also depends on the hardware in the machine though

MAC SUCKS!
You can do so much more with a PC, and the hardware in PC's has highly surpassed that of a Mac!
If you get a laptop, go for either a Toshiba, ASUS, or Lenovo! (I have a Lenovo with 4gb DDR3 RAM, Intel HD Graphics card, Intel Dual core 2.13 GHz processor 64 bit, Windows 7 legit copy, and a 320 GB HDD 5400RPM; this laptop only cost me $400)
