back from a week in Majorca and while I had a great time there.. there is one 'image' that will stay with me and the only i will share..it is sad that in this day and age anyone should have to resort to begging on a street corner.. especially an old person..

One of your best pieces. I'm going to be annoying and say that I think I would personally prefer it without the texture overlay because there's a lot of detail in the photograph already but everything else is fantastic. Wonderful black and white conversion, striking contrast, the vignettes create a strong mood and complete the piece.
It's a very powerful diptych. It definitely makes one think and evokes a reaction. Sad but something that needs to be seen and addressed.

seriously, the texture was just to try and make it look a little more 'grungy' and fitting for the image.. and did work to some effect, as you liked the vignette.. most of which is part of the texture.

Europe is a nation that didn't have benefits like we did, but that has slowly changed over the years, to employees contribution
what you pay in is to what you get back when needed, so women that may never of worked never contributed anything
get nothing, it seems, they rely on family supporting them, unfortunately some people don't have any family support network,
their government should do more for the elderly but i call them the for gotten people and we will be there
one day too....this is when i thank god i am British....or at least have a good pension, to pay the government to
look after me.....lol

she does look healthy, i agree, and with everything you say about Europe etc..
it's still sad to see though.. and strangely seemed to affect me more than seeing it on my own 'doorstep' so to speak.

It´s a sad world we are living in. It´s a impressive photo but it´s really very sad. Some have too much, don´t know what to do with their money and others have nothing...
