Description Proxenovitula Fernandezi.

The ancestor to the creature we all know in love today, it was very otter-like, with strong legs with webbed feet, the round nose that we see on the Billies of today didn't quite develop yet, and so were the extra limbs, tails, and eyes, it may of have lived in swamps and some forest of the primitive isles and may of had a diet consisting of insects and eggs.

He also ate Pete's fleas every now and then and he also took rides on him to avoid predators.

UPDATE: Now with a size chart comparing it to a human and Pete, 's lil' piggy-sheep-cow thing.
UPDATE2: He's also called Bernabe now.

Oh, nice ancestor of the Billy! I wonder what the neck fur and the tiny undeveloped middle pair of limbs were for :3

The neck fur was from protecting itself from other "Billy ancestors" (named Bernabe, btw.) the underdeveloped arms were that, underdeveloped, like the second pair of eyes, it's body considered them "parasitic" and didn't accept them until later on in it's evolution.

Or maybe i'm completely wrong and they were maybe used for a "Sexy tickle" like what t. rex may have done. (i think that was debunked...)

Wow, very interesting! So it's kinda like a mane? Also, if the body didn't find any use of those tiny parasitic extra parts, how did they even evolve in the first place, let alone spread to all of them?Β

(Yes, I think that was debunked, new studies shows that it's arms may have been used as weapons for slashing it's prey, although it preferred to use its teeth, which is why the arms are small, but that doesn't mean the T Rex didn't use them)

It's not that it's body considered them "useless" it just didn't know for WHAT to use it for, later on in it's evolution they developed into the strong second pair of flippers that Billy has to make it faster. It's all about the niche they decide to take.

EDIT: Also yes, it was kinda like a mane, Baby billies also have it to not damage themselves whenever they playfight.

Hmm, yeah, but considering mammals had only 2 eyes and 2 pair of limbs, how did the extra eyes and extra limbs evolve at all?

That's one of the mysteries of the isles that i still need to work on... may or not be answered in the comic...

Although it's considered that there's some kind of "aura" around the isles, and only in the isles and the "Billynian ocean" that inserts/causes a weird mutated gene wich causes the extra limbs and eyes to grow.

Out of all the animals you made for the project i'm surprised you wanted to design an ancestor for Billy...

Well, it’s for Billy and it’s his relatives, including Harold.

Wait, so... Billy isn't a true seal?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RickWhitetiger In reply to GRIMBLETOOTH [2017-12-06 00:53:33 +0000 UTC]

No, he still is a true seal, this creature is just "otter-like" not completely an otter, most seals pretty much descended from a similar ancestor that had an otter-like appearance. Billy is closely related to elephant seals.

EDIT: Although it would be pretty interesting to hear that Billy is just a highly derived aquatic mustelid, heh.

GRIMBLETOOTH In reply to RickWhitetiger [2017-12-06 00:58:02 +0000 UTC]

So, what I'm getting from this is that Billy is a decendant of a primitive seal that evolved aquatic-ness covergently of off-isle pinnipeds. Correct?

Correct.

It's second pair of legs are too short

RickWhitetiger In reply to candelediva [2017-12-06 00:45:29 +0000 UTC]

That's the point. In the past the limbs weren't as developed as they were today, besides, it's not like they're HUGE nowadays.

Good to know. Say, will the Billynian wolves and felines be featured in the comic?

RickWhitetiger In reply to candelediva [2017-12-06 00:58:08 +0000 UTC]

Maybe... maybe not, they're pretty old concepts that i pretty much decided to scrap by now, but since you and a very limited amount of people paid attention to them i may feature them.

I hope they get at the very least a brief appearance.

Yo me imagino queΒ Γ©lΒ le comia las pulgas a Pete de vez en cuando, y se trasladaban encima de ellos para evitar depredadores.
