Hello everyone. I'm not going to write a novel, but I believe that you deserve to know a few things. Back in 2012 I found myself in front of an array of adversities, which eventually made me give up on art and leave almost every "social channel" I had. After 6 months of silence, I stood up and decided to give it another go. The image above was the result, which was mostly a texturing exercise to get back into making art. The title and setting resembles the state of my profile (as in me not making any updates) for the past several years. Why didn't I get back earlier? Shortly after finishing this picture, I got a full-time job and had little to no time to work on anything, so there was another period of time which was blank artwise. However now I have a different job, which allows me to have a little more free time. I don't know how active I'm going to be or in what way, this is something I'll have to see for myself.I'm sorry for leaving without notice, but I needed some silence, not necessarily for such a long time, but needed some nonetheless.

The amount of detail in this scene

I thought I'd try to make it look as detailed as I could, since there was that 6 month period of time when I haven't been doing anything art related.
You know how it's like though with detailing. There's always something that you can make more detailed, so I had to stop at some point, or else I'd be working on it even now.
About sonic related things: I don't think I'll be making those again, I like to come up with original concepts nowadays.

I see where your coming from, especially with 3D, it is definitely hard to know where to stop. Is that IvyGen that I see there?

Some parts of it is ivygen, but there are hand drawn splines as well. The leaves aren't from ivygen, since they're flat and they don't look good usually in closeups.

Welcome back! :)Β It's always good to hear/ see that someone has the strength to pick up art again, and now there's (hopefully) one less of all those abandoned accounts around DA.
Besides the rather negative connotation of the title, this place has something beautiful about it. Like the way plants take over and nature recovers. I also like how you worked in perspective, though the bottom left seems rather grainy? I don't know enough of 3D-Art to tell if that's intentional or not, but yeah. The overall placement and composition is rather pleasing to the eye though, like opening a path for the eye to follow. Good job on that.

The perspective you mean is called depth of field. I decided to render the image with it instead of doing it in post. It is grainy because it takes a lot of time to render usually, so I didn't turn the subdivisions too high. As far as I know, pictures taken by an actual camera can have a noisy DOF as well, it probably depends on the camera. The billboard is an ad for some bottled water, which I also made in 3D separately. I intended to give a back-story to the picture, though now that I look at it, it's not too visible since it's covered by ivy.
