Thank you for commenting! The subject is rather boring: it is a pulpit in St.Stephen's cathedral in Vienna. I assume that one of the figures is a cardinal (in a hat), others are some high clerics too. The red outlines are there for no particular purpose: sometimes I get carried away when using red

Stephansdom is wonderful indeed: it does not have much of stained glass, but has a lot of intricate stonework.

I love stonework in buildings <3 Especially on the ceilings and sometimes pillars. Someday I'll see the actual inside of a cathedral lol.

Hey there, here from projectcomment.deviantart.com/ I absolutely love this piece! The way it presents itself makes the viewer feel as though the painting itself is as old as the scene depicted! The colors compliment each other well! The figures looking out from the tower are reminiscent of playing card characters, yet they have a very authentic look. There is almost an Alice in Wonderland feel to the piece, and the obscurity of the bottom of tower plays into that. The sudden sharpness of the tower sprouting out from the surrounding gloom is very striking! Perhaps one of my favorite features of your piece! The attention to detail contrasting against the abstract purples and pinks is phenomenal! Infact, upon further inspection, the craftsmanship of the details are very good, especially considering that it is a water color! Another feature is that everything in your painting looks as though it has a texture to it. As a viewer, I feel as though I can reach out and feel the ridges of the lines and water spots on the paper; something I really like! If I were to be a bit critical, my primary complaint is the lack of knowing the story behind this picture? What brought this scene into your head? Is it part of a bigger story? Are the guys in the tower indeed the jack, joker, and king from a deck of cards waiting to be released from the package they are trapped in? Or keeping lookout for tricks that may be up someone's sleeve? Regardless of the back story, this is a great water color! Keep up the good work

I never thought about it that way, but I love your interpretation. It is actually a pulpit with some bishops and cardinals in the 'windows', so no story, just a boring painting from life

This is absolutely stunning! The washes and spatters are done extremely well, and I'm especially impressed with your use of white space. I'm not very familiar with pastel as a medium, but I can certainly appreciate the level of detail within the space that has more detail. Very lovely piece.

Oh, my jaw just dropped to the floor ^^...I´m really impressed. What about the splatters of red on the right side? It doesn´t seem to be coincidence (but perhaps that´s just me ^^) - did/does something happen there?

Actually I have no idea. I just love the red highlights and drops of red ink. But there are several explanations of them. The first one is that for centuries the dead used to be buried under the cathedral on the very square, so this place is actually a cemetery in the very center of Vienna.
The second variant is that people on this pulpit are maybe Popes or something like that. I appreciate Catholic church, but we cannot forget all the blood spilt by its attendants.)
