New OC pony I came up with a couple of weeks ago, quite the backstory she has here!

Seafoam lived in a town south of Ponyville, built into the side of a cliff by the ocean. She grew up there with her sister, Aqua Shores, who became a marine biologist and stationed herself within the town. Unfortunately, Seafoam was nearly an adult an still didn't have her cutie mark. This caused her to feel as if she wasn't special enough, and grew sadder every day.

To spend the days, she often wandered the beaches, pondering and searching for her purpose in life. It was one night, alone, where she met Riptide, a seapony living in the ocean come to shore. They talked all night, conversing over their different cultures and bonding. When Seafoam woke upon the beach the next morning, she was unsure if the previous night had been a dream.

She came back the next night, Riptide waiting for her. She was overjoyed, and they spent the next weeks talking and bonding, slowly falling in love. However, she had a nagging feeling that their love was forbidden.

The next morning, she asked her sister about the seaponies, who told her the seaponies and land ponies were not exactly social towards each other. The cliff the town was built upon had the water magically pushed away to prevent flooding of the houses, and the seaponies were not pleased with this loss of territory. Aqua Shores said she had to be extra careful and take precautions not to upset the seaponies when studying the other marine life, and advised Seafoam to be wary.

But Seafom was not to be deterred from her love. One night, Riptide didn't come, and she spent the night alone, cold and slowly growing more and more despondent. But it was a full moon, and she heard an enchanting voice coming down from the other end of the beach. Curious, she galloped to the sound, and saw it was from a tall, regal looking unicorn mare. Her droopy navy mane, deep gray coat, and blazing orange eyes suggested she was not exactly normal. The mare introduced herself as Swan Song, in an eerie warble, and asked Seafoam of what she desired.

Seafoam, delirious from exhaustion and yearning, admitted to loving Riptide when she wasn't supposed to. When Swan Song asked is she wanted a remedy to her suffering, Seafoam tearfully agreed. It was then Swan Song's strangely long horn began glowing a mysterious yellow, and a perfectly formed seashell was drawn from beneath the sand. As Swan Song sang with a hauntingly beautiful voice, the magic was contained within the shell and it became a necklace. When Seafoam put it over her head and onto her neck, her cutie mark appeared: the exact same seashell, palest pink and smoothly curved.

As Seafoam admired the cutie mark and necklace, Swan Song disappeared into the night. She was confused as to where the mysterious pony had gone, and Seafoam aimlessly wandered the beaches, the necklace bouncing on her neck. Suddenly, she tripped into a tide pool. Panicking at first, she discovered the necklace allowed her to breathe underwater!

Excitedly, she rushed into the ocean, and met Riptide who had only just arrived at their usual meeting place. Eagerly, she showed him the necklace and its powers. He was just as excited as her, and together they planned their new life, together at last.

Eleven months later, Seafoam gave birth to a filly she named Coral Cove. Unbeknownst to her mother, Coral was half-seapony. But that is another story for another day.
