Hello! First of all, thank you so much for such detailed critique on my art! That's really kind of you to take some of your time to watch my art and comment it I appreciate that very much
And also sorry for such delay to reply!
Haha actually I do find hard to draw hands, and prefer to avoid them, but I can't always hide them behind the back as I used to do, so I think the best way to improve is to at least try, so I do my best for that even tho I'm not always satisfied with it. But I'm really happy you think I did a good job for that ^_^
And drawing and coloring hair, it has always been what I prefered <3 So I put a lot of effort in that
I agree with the shading. Actually if you look back to my past months deviations, i've been working on the shading much more than i used to before. a lot of ppl told me to emphase the shadows, because before i didn't realized my shadows were to light. so i'm still trying to figure out how i can improve about that ^^
about the guy, well i've got a whole explaination about the meaning beyond the illustration, i hope i won't be boring you, but well i think it's important to understand the drawing :
OK so I wanted to make a eroticized art-work, the main focus being my OC Minami Yaguchi. She is the most eroticized part of the drawing, that's why I wanted her to be in the center and the man in the background.
The man has to be seen more than a notion rather than an actual person, that's why we don't see his face : he could be any man.
He is here because to me, in the purpose of drawing Minami naked and alone in a bed would have been referring to masturbation, as I consider it to be a form of sexuality found the most among teenager, it could have been an interesting motif to devellop (with the notions of self-discovery and pleasure+ sexual awakenning), but my character is now 20, so I wanted to involve her in a more adult/mature description of sexuality, that's why the guy is here.
Like I said before he could have been anyone, and the way I wanted Minami to look at the "audience" like she's looking straight to us is in the way like she's telling "you're the next to end up in my bed".
In this way it's a bit like a feminist or girl-power drawing lol, as the man is seen as his sole sexual connotation of making Minami to reach adulthood from sexuality.
(I hope this helps you understand what I wanted to show thru the drawing, and makes you see it in another way ^^

I definitely understand what you're going for. It's very clear that Minami is the focus here. You've clearly thought about this quite a bit, which is great You've definitely gotten across that impression of mature sexual discovery; I just wonder whether, in trying so hard to depersonalize the man, you're in fact drawing more focus onto him by virtue of omission.
You absolutely don't have to take this suggestion as gospel, but if I were you, what I would do is to involve him more inside the picture plane, but de-emphasize him with muted colors and shadow, implying that he could indeed be anyone, but still keeping the bright, vivid focus on your main character. With a shadowy background, I think he would blend right in, and hey, you might get to work on your shadows at the same time
I did indeed look at your past work (in regards to the shadows) and it really does look as though you're practicing shading much more. What helped me a lot was to start doing traditional work in black and white ink with solid block shading instead of hatching or stippling. It leaves less room for equivocating, and after enough subsequent success and failure you start to get an eye for how to shade this way without making the black overwhelming. If you work exclusively with digital media, don't be afraid of dark values. Make your shadows darker than you think they need to be, because chances are what you're seeing as the darkest dark doesn't look nearly as saturated to a viewer (I found out myself ). Viewers aren't often looking at a piece in the context of the medium; for example, the "blackest black" on a piece done in graphite will in actuality be a middle to dark gray, and although you as the artist know that the medium will never get darker than what you drew, the viewer will simply wonder why you didn't push the values more. There's definitely a difference in perception that needs to be accounted for, but once you start seeing in that way, it becomes natural. Maybe you're the sort of person who simply doesn't want to do really contrasty work (I know I'm not), but even if that's the case, once you've learned how to push the values when necessary, you can use the principles of that push-and-pull in your later work.
Geh, sorry for the text wall again I hope there's something in there, and in the previous critique, that you can use. Best of luck in your work!

Thank you so much for your critique! <3
I appreciate it tons as I spent days to do this one
So...I'm happy you like the text, I like it to because of the swirls and stuff, tho a friend told me it's to flashy compared to the relatively dark ambiance of the drawing what do you think?
Haha yeah! The hair! I still love that part <3
Another friend told me it's too much of a yellowish blond, what do you think? My intention was to make the head of Minami the first striking point of the drawing.
Oh really? Well I thought I did better with the shading this time as I get more used to the tablet and photoshop XD
I think I lack knowledge of body muscles thus how it should be more or lesh shading...
+ it was my first attempt of naked while I always "hide" the body XD But thanks a lot for pointing that out! I'll try my best to make it better next time
Yeah I realize there is no shadow on some particular spots, like Minami should be projecting some shadow on the guy as well as on the pillow and the guy's shoes should also project some more shadow on the sheets...
I really tried my best on that and hopefully next time I can overcome today's weakness thanks to your critique! Thanks a lot my good friend

This has not to be with the drawing itself but I have some question about the building of Minami.
As you may know she is half-japanese and half-english. I want to had more "historical background to the character in order to make her deeper in terms of reserches and plausible and stuff.
So her english side's family name is Plunkett, but I just found out it was originally an Irish name XD I didn't know that when I named her (I was like 13 or something at the time), so anyway, I'm wondering about what kind of religion she could have been raised in, and I don't understand anything about what's up with religion in UK/Ireland. There's the anglican church in England where she was born, but is it like catholic or protestant? I was also thinking that Irish people were protestant (and thus english are catholic, but I saw on the web that Irish I roman catholic, but I'm sure there's something with protestants up there, cuz I know there have been like fights and civil war stuff.
I also heard about methodist, presbyterian, so finally I don't understand anything
I don't know if you're a religious person, but I thought you might know as you're english

Well the shading on the body i think would be better if you added lighter bits. I think her hair is lighter then normal but i didn't think it stood out as a bad thing. As for the writing i think it suits it is the same red as her lips and i think because she has make up on it looks good.
As for her religion, since her original name is Irish i would make her catholic because i know they have both in Ireland but they don't tend to have church of England over there which is very common in England, it is a little more common then being catholic but both are pretty common.
Church of England is protestant btw.
Ireland have both Catholic and protestant because they fight over it a lot over there, they had a war for many years over it and they hate each other. In England though people aren't fussed at all, the only rule is the Queen has to be Church of England because she is the head of the Church of England.
I am not religious in the sense of believing in God but i do have my own beliefs, but my family tried to raise me as Church of England and i do have Catholic relatives. She probably would have been christened because most babies are. Both forms of the Christian religion say you should and even people who aren't that bothered tend to get them christened any way.
So i am very happy yo answer any questions you might have.

Yeah indeed her hair color is different from "normal", but it was because I had to match her hair color with the fact that the piece was in a drak andbiance with a golden source of light from the back. So it's hard to try to keep the same hair color and both have to change it because of the lighting and stuff...
Thanks also for the information about the religion part, it's really helpful *_*
I though Church of England was catholic O_o
I just have another question, it's if irish migrants tend to keep their religion, or if they prefer to change it in orederto blend into the british population?
