If you think about it, pestilance is the greatest, most efficient conqueror. All a virus does is divide and conquer.

I was just saying that the mix up makes sense when you consider the fact that human acts of conquest pale in comparison to The Black Death, small pox, AIDS, etc. They're better at it than us is all.

Dunno, the black death in Europe was caused by the conquest of an european city by an asian country ( I don't quite remember which ).
What caused the huge amount of death rate is that we didn't have any immune to this particular form of plague coming from asia.

The first wave but not last, half of the European population died from the plague.
In italy the death rate due to the plague was 80% in some cities ><

I'm mostly shocked that the jewishes were made responsible for it by the church ...

Well that's not really shocking seeming as the Catholics never really saw their religion equal to Jews. Seeming as Jews are heathens to Catholics and visa versa. Also Jews didn't accept Jesus. Jews being secluded and having a lot more jobs like what we would call banks now was also a thorn in the side. Getting rid of the Jews was a big advantage for other people in so many ways. Also Jews are pretty on themselves as they didn't exactely interact with other people, making them an easy target. It's really pretty logic if you think about it. Doesn't mean it's good. Because it certainly isn't. It's genocide.

-chuckles- The Bible does say God forsaked the Jews. Taking away the label of them being his. But it probably has to do with their attitude. The attitude they still display in Antwerp. They act as if everyone else is lower than dirt. No joke. It has been so since like forever. I mean like they acted like that during Roman times too. Though the Romans were scared of the Jews because they were with so many and had influence in politics, trade, etc.

I have trouble with the concept of religions, especially understanding why they can't stand each other ... so weird to me ><

I am religious myself so I don't have troubles understanding the concept.
Why they can't stand each other? All of them think they own the truth. If you say one thing and it's the truth and someone else says another thing and it's the truth, it would confuse the people. That's why Catholics didn't want Islamic influence in their cuture, while they went on crusades to force their religions on them. The Catholic church had a lot of power. But so did the emirates. Same goes for the Jews. They had monopoly on money and trades. Like when the plague was there if you had debt to a bank (governed by a Jew) it was absolutely benificial to get the Jew killed. Throw in the family as a bonus so no child could take it over.
The thing that religion doesn't take in account is that in ALL holy books there is this verse saying you have to love everyone. Most people just ignore that, I guess.

That's the thing that confuse me the most : All religions preach forgiveness, love and tolerance, it's like the whole point of them but no-one does it.

YugureMuffin In reply to rika-dono [2015-10-14 15:46:44 +0000 UTC]
It is "confusing". It's just people are human. And religions became just power hungry. They tasted political affairs and wanted to keep the power they had. Eventually they made it only love mutuals. But that's not what all the holy books say. They just take what's convenient for them. They alter it and everything.
But that doesn't take away that there are real practitioners that do tolerate each other. They're just few in numbers.

Mythology is cool too. =3
I've studied Latin for 8 years. So I had a lot of talk about Greek and Roman mythology. I am sad I don't know much about Egyptian or Asian mythology.
Yes, it was nice talking with you ^^
