Marco seemed to have absolutely no problem at all with Star's condition in the first comic of the Mewberty AU, which makes you wonder how her insecurity over this escalated to a point where she actually mutilated herself over this. Was it the kids at school,Β something her parents said,Β or just her own fear of being in a permanent Mewberty state?
And Star breaking down and spilling everything to Marco, who just saw her at her absolute worst, just shows how strong the relationship is between these two, not just romance-wise.
