It's spelt Betta, and males are only aggressive to other males, or other fish. Females and some other fish are quite safe with just one male.

I used to keep betas. We'd always have at least one in the tank with all the other fish, but the only ones that ever got attacked were the OTHER betas... weird little fish, how do they keep from going extinct!?
