Frankly speaking, I have no idea why he's depicted as... sort of villain of a guy. To my point of view he did what he was supposed to be doing in order to keep his lands and the measures were quite... suitable for the time.

I totally agree with you and though the same thing. The only TRUE villain was Nobunaga. I swear that man creeps me out at times. I mean even Mitsunari was dark and considered a villain, but honestly he was only confused and going off of his emotions and a clouded mind. Nobunaga on the other hand was a flat out cold blooded killer that only cared for himself.
