I counted 800+ amazon IDs with stolen copyright material from my print on demand account on spreadshirt but it's the same for most PoD-Sites and many other artists, too.
For your take down notice I recommend the email address copyright [at] amazon.com and since the numbers suggests criminal negligence on amazon parts, if amazon gives you the run around despite the fact that you provided a
- Description
- Link to the original
- Link + ASIN to the counterfeit / infringement
- Sworn statement given under penalty of purgery
- your full address
instead of taking it down within 10 days period, I recommend another complaint, this time with reference to the first and a CC to jeff [at] amazon.com and the FBI Seattle for good measures. That is if you haven't registered your work with the USCO. If you registered with the USCO you might want to take it to an agency dealing with infringements or a lawyer.
Since I collected approx. 40,000 links with infringements of my work the last six months. When amazon makes me mad, which they frequently tend to do, my CC contains the FBI Seattle, Kripo Germany K5 in my police district, DPA mail contact for my region, Harvard Law Press and several others and if it holds true I don't forget to mentioning willful infringement, repeat infringer and criminal negligence.

Guys, I need some help with my art that's been stolen. This drawing: glitzerland.deviantart.com/art… is being sold on an iPhone case here: www.amazon.com/iwatobi-swim-co…
Obviously, I'm really annoyed about this as they didn't contact me or even credit me and I don't want this drawing sold ANYWAY seeing as its fanart.
If anyone could help out with what I should do I'd be very grateful.

Hi there! I'm so sorry to hear that but I added the person to the list so people can keep a look out.
You can fill out this copyright infringement form on Amazon to have them remove it for you: www.amazon.com/gp/help/reports…
Just a warning though: they take forever to get to it so it's best to warn your watchers about this seller.

Thanks for the help! I contacted the seller and they took it down (without a reply back to me or even an apology) but I'm a little concerned other stolen art is being sold by them. At the very least you've added them to the list, but it's awful if they're making a profit on people's hard work.

No problem! I'm glad to hear they took it down but yeah, if they're willing to steal art for profit, I don't think they'll apologize... You just have to keep a lookout.

Interesting, someone saw the opportunity and took it, why aren't we artists (well maybe not me) pulling each other together and than selling ourselves just as those on ebay and amazon making bundles so it would be easy to buy this stuff. (i haven't seen anything like this before), anyways this could be my ignorance speaking but I'll say it anyways for the sake of saying something. What would have been fair is that the artists get paid like a % of royalties when one of the products with their art is bought but the world doesen't work like that, ppl like us are inconsidarate bastards. just as the way the worlds nations treated germany after the war.
To do well in the art business you gottta figure out the best ways to sell yourself. Or others, whatever works.
Anyways this stuff doesn't involve me, so why should I even ^^ care.

Some artists do sell merchandise of their work and have online shops such as Etsy or storenvy. But you should know that selling merchandise would require holding inventory and to have inventory, the artist would first need to pay out of their own pocket to have their merchandise made. Then, they have to take into account pricing and shipping costs so that they can easily breakeven with the production cost. At other times, an artist might just have leftover inventory from selling at a convention. Either way, why would an artist request to be paid a small percentage off of THEIR work (stolen in this case) when they can simply make their own merchandise and get 100% from it?
Yes, to do well in the art industry, an artist has to how to sell themselves and has to have a product that consumers would want, but how does this relate to art thieves who has zero relations to the artist and is selling the artist's work without their knowledge while taking 100% credit for it?
This might not involve you and whether you care or not is beyond me (but I guess you cared enough to comment), but I put this journal up as a public service announcement and warning for people who might have had their art stolen and not know it, and for people who want to support the artists with said stolen art so that they can contact the artist about it (there was a lot of stolen pieces in the first link and I definitely don't know everyone who had their pieces stolen). Finally, this was to raise awareness so that people didn't purchase these items with good intentions and unknowingly support an art thief.

The first part is that the artists makes money by creating and than selling the art but you know not all want to bother with that I bet so someone else does and makes some profit why not work together with them but its too late for that.
But this problem that were talking about appears because ppl don't bother or think to or want to sell their art this way. So ppl see the missed opportunity and do so. As i mentioned we don't live in a fair world so its fair (my logic ). yeah
Your right about me caring but its not my business yet. I still butt in.
You did a good job on what you set out to do, im just im just.......... someone....

These design pirates don't care much for the print quality. Cindy Bendel ordered a counterfeit and compared it to the real deal. She dedicated a site to the problem with some interesting articles see amazon-ipprotection.weebly.com…

I hate people like this so much, my sis was accused of doing this with her dragons! When all she did was learn how to draw her dragons from an art book. Her style is similar to the artist only because she grew up learning from that very artist.

That mousepad thief has UNUSUALLY good taste compared to the other rip offs I've seen (like that tshirt! Yuck!) He actually made a good product! I would totally want one of those mousepads if they weren't stolen! (And I could afford to spend money on silly things like that... (as opposed to a bajillion adoptables...)) Sorry, but they're wicked cool looking. It's still bad though. Shame on that art thief!
