Description
Lulu from Final Fantasy X. I was practising portraits and I guess the FFX characters are pretty good to practise on ^^. I used Lulu's official art as a reference, but the pose is original.
It might have worked out better if I'd had a reference picture of someone in that position to work from as well; I've never really been comfortable with realistic style drawing.I'm not sure how long this took to draw; I spaced it out over three days. I still have a long way to go as portraits go, but this was definately good practise.
The writing in the background doesn't mean anything this time
It's just decorative brushwork. The red stamp in the corner is my Japanese name stamp; it reads 'Ri' (as in "Risa"; there's also a symbol for "Li" I believe, but I ended up being called "Risa" by everyone, so it seemed more fitting as my Japanese name.)Oh, and I know this style of drawing/painting is one of my weak areas so critisism and tips are very much appreciated.

I think the pose turned out very well. The texture on the fur, in particular, is impressive. And the general light and shading effects really achieve that look of realism. Great job.

This is phenomenal! The hair is great! Doing hair in any medium that isn't pencil (regular or colored) has always been really hard for me, so I definitely noticed that first. The shading and use of light (particularly on the skin) is beautiful as well. I like the pose and composition; it's a bit offbeat and different, but visually appealing. The only bit of criticism I might have is the shading on the bottom lip... somehow where it meets the non-lipsticked skin on the bottom looks not quite natural, but I don't know how. Other than that, the pic is absolutely perfection!

^^ Actually I use Photoshop too; although I hear it's a lot easier to do pictures like this one on Painter. I still have a long way to go too...
