You can do it in the Empires games, those strategy ones, there you can marry whoever you want as long as you befriend them, the easiest way is to fight together and interact. In DW7: Empires, you get the event mode where you can make marry and confess love to absolutely everyone regardless of gender.
Every shippers dream can come true. And the news on the Empires game for the 8th installment says you not only can get married, but also have kids.
I'd say Xiahou Dun isn't the most romantic dude, yet his in battle dialogue was just so sweet. It was something among that he wants you to stay close to him, because he couldn't stand seeing you get hurt.
This and he's fucking hot.

Okay...it looks like, the series has taken a reeeallly different direction from when I left. When I played DW it was about war, duells, honor and killing more than 1000 people in one battle. But now it sounds more like The Sims to me.
I have to admit I never played the Empire games. I played only DW 3-5, Kessen 1-3 and Dynasty Taktics 1-2. So I can't say really much about Empires. But it sounds kind of fun. Even if it surprised me that there are shippers for DW, too. But it sounds fun to hear that it goes so far that you could have kids, with your characters. Hmm...let me see. I would like to see Lu Xun together with Zhu Rong. That would be hot. ^^
Xiahou Dun was always my favourit. As far as sweetness, hottness and romantic...weeelll, there is not much I can say about that topic. After all I'm not a girl. I always liked him for beeing a freaking badass. I mean, how many warriors are out there who got their eye pierced out by an arrow and ate it up after that? This is insane and hillarious. He is so mean and honorable at the same time. Also I like his fighting style...in the old games. As I said, I lost track of the series recently.

I forgot one great thing about Empires, when you play as a ruler and capture an enemy officer you can hire them, release them or execute them. So when you hate someone... Off with the head.
Well, the main series is the same, lots of ass kicking and the same stages all over again. Plus new characters, some are cool, some are meh. I started playing since DW6 and got all other games, with the Extreme Legends ones and Empires ones.
To be honest, I ship in all fandoms, I am guilty of it. Yet the main shipping force in this fandom is the yaoi one. And it's weird, but I am a girl and I really don't like yaoi.
Zhu Rong and Lu Xun? Now that would be cool, I just hope he will meet her high standards and not disappoint the daughter of the fire God.
Plus she's gorgeous, a truely wild beauty.
ThatΒ is was why I love him in the Empires 7. But my main love comes from everything about him. I love his design, his sense of honour, the fact he lost an eye and was like "nah, I don't give a shit, time to kill". I mean how can you not love him? He is the essence of pure epicness. DW 6 his mace is quite slow and it gave me problems, in DW7 he got a sword and in the Extreme Legends expansion he got a podao which he uses till this day.
Although the only thing I don't like about him is his Japanese voice, I prefer the English dub to be honest which will get me crucified by the whole fandom.

So, when you play as a ruler you can make an own army where all your favourit characters play on the same side? That is really cool. This is something I always wanted. I have to admit there are only a few characters I couldn't stand. Mainly because the style they where played. The Quiao sisters where such an example. I mean... they where fighting with large fans. Come one. >.<
But if I understand you right, you got the same problem with the game like me. Playing the same stage over and over again could get a bit repetive after some time. And basically you started the series when I left it.
I have to admit that normaly I try to avoid shippers, because they are often a bit to obsessed and started to hate someone when he got a different opinion. But I think that everyone could like what he wants, and sometimes the pairings they ship, are really funny and more interesting than the canon ones. But when it comes to yaoi...well... The only thing I could they about it is, it is not my kind of preferences. ^^''
But it is almost shocking that you are agirl and dont like yaoi. This seems to be rear.
In DW5 I think there was a small scene between Zhu Rong and Lu Xun where she asked him if he is as hot as her, and he reacts a bit perplex. I think they would be fun togehter. Mainly because of Zhu Rongs high standards. It would be fun to see Lu Xun try to reach her standards. And by the way...I can't stand Meng Huo. How could a fat fart like him got a wife like Zhu Rong?

I liked Xiahou Dun since the first second. He was my first chara I played with. He looked so cool and badass. I never played DW6 but after I saw Xiahou Dun use that mace (which in my opinion belongs to his brother Xiahou Yuan), I thought that this was not very fitting. But it is good to hear that he got his Podao back. That was the weapon he started with in DW2. Back to the rules!!!
I have to admit that I never heard the japanese voice. DW3 was one of the vew games that got a german voiceover. So I grew up with the german voice of Xiahou Dun. They used the same voices in Kessen too. But in DW4,5 and Taktics they used the english voiceover. I have to say, at first I had to get used to it, but later I started to like the english voices too. But now I am courios to hear the japanese ones.
It is really rare to meet someone who plays DW. I only know 2 other persons. This is cool. I always thought of buying another DW, but when I think of the large efford that is needed to maximise all characters and playing the same stages over and over again, I always shy away a littlebit. How many playable characters are there in the new games? Do You know Samurai Warriors? This series I also like very much. There will be a new one out next month and I am considering to get it. DW and SW are always fun to play with more people.

As a free officer you can do the same, change all kingdoms, set the rulers, offecers, so I always one with my favs and join this one. I like Xiaoqiao, but I cannot stand her sister, not only she pisses me off, her face looks creepy and she looks like a waitress mixed with a hotel boy. :/ Yet Xiaoqiao's outfit got as horrible as her sister's in DW7. To be honest I cannot stand Liu Bei, not that I hate him, but he's so generic. Yeah, another virtue leader, blah, blah, not mentioning I noticed that the games keep favouring Shu as the best kingdom even though all did the same, conquered the land with force which isn't much of a noble thing to me when people die. I am a die hard Wei fan. And Wu, minus Daqiao and Zhou Yu (damn, and he's supposed to be handsome?).
I treat my shipping like this, it's a nice thing, but I will not stop playing a game because my crack otp is not canon and to be honest, I prefer it this way. Shipping crack means it's all in your hands and no one can screw it for you. Plus it's nice to imagine the dynamics between some characters. If you add friendships to it, you can have tons of fun.
I went to fanfiction net, because there are good fics. Yet... 90% of them were yaoi, so you can imagine how I felt.
Really? Now that's adorable! I think I'll check the eventΒ mode in Empires and make Lu Xun confess to Zhu Rong.
Well, he's intelligent and skilled, so I don't think he will disappoint, at least for a while, because you'll need lots of strenght to keep up with this woman.
My fav ships? See pic above, I like my cute girls and manly guys together, plus I always kept imagining what if Wu decided to ally with the Wei (I'd do this personally, we all know Wei are better than Shu), marriage is a typical custom to finish the alliance, but Cao Cao doesn't marry Sun Shangxiang, he tells his cousin to do it. It would take them tons of time to get used to each other and finally develop some feeligs. So I avoid shipping it like a typical love at first sight stuff. Sorry for the cheesy rant. 
And I started to like Sun Ce and Wang Yuanji (you don't know her, she appeared in DW7), can happen in Empires setting only since timeline, but in those games people seem not to age much. And if we add the Orochi games, the timeline just gets weird. Either way, everything I ship is not canon.
What? Xiahou Yuan is not a bow user? Then again they keep calling Sun shangxiang the bow waisted princess even though since DW7 she uses wheels. Consistency is not a strong point of Koei.
To be honest I didn't count, but there's a ton of them. And yes, I know Samurai Warriors, I just got the first game for the ps2. And it's lovely, I might try other Koei games and definitely getting a WiiU next month to be able to play Hyrule Warriors.
