Description Inktober day two! Honestly, this is my favourite out of all the ones I've done so far. The theme for the day was "Moon"

Hello! I come here from ProjectComment 's "Comment Tag" game. My tag word was inks.

Overall:

I chose this image because I like the symbolism and the imagery in this – black cats have always been beautiful, fascinating creatures to me, and them being silhouetted against the moon is just a wonderful sight to behold.

The shape of the cat seems to be proportionally correct, granted I think the head is turned a little too far over to look natural, but that’s a smaller issue, the rest look proportional. So bravo to that.

Some advice:

I find that the way this picture was taken and that it was drawn on lined paper to be rather distracting. Lined paper especially give the feel of unprofessionalism to the image. If you had used pens laid neatly on a couple of the corners or cropped it to just the image it would help a lot.

Another thing that would help make the image pop more would be to eliminate the written words on the image. Let the picture speak for you and allow the artist description area on dA to define anything else. The words don’t follow the flow of the image, and are hard to read because we cannot zoom in on the picture to make it clearer.

The last thing I’d like to mention is the way you made the pen strokes. On the cat I can clearly see that you just went back and forth in lines to create the solid look. My suggestion there would be to have long, confident strokes. As for around the moon, a similar technique to the one I’ve described would be good. The circular lines around the moon don’t have a fluid feel to them and are a bit distracting.

(Most artists who do tutorials anymore create them in long formats where you’ll have to zoom in, but hopefully these are still readable and applicable.)

Your Turn:

I hope this was helpful and I hope to see more from you in the future! Now it’s your turn to finish out this tagline by commenting on SolarLunix ’s gallery with the tag word “Power.”

Thank you so much! Those tutorials were super helpful and easy to understand! I don't draw animals too often, but I do want to get better at it, so this was a really fun drawing for me! I'll also definitely take your advice for the presentation of my drawings! I know that's something that I need to work on, so I appreciate any advice at all!
