Another really well done piece! The black is so smooth it makes me sick! I thought this was a cute design by Ellie as well...she must be stoked! I wish I had some criticism...the only thing I maybe see is that you maybe should have outlined the tiny flowes in the hair a little bit bigger to compensate for losing some of the inside space for black being put all around it...get what I'm trying to say...I'm not quite as eloquent as you are...again, I totally love and appreciate how you take the time to take pics of your process and post them...that's very time consuming I'm sure. You rule!

Well thank you. I agree on the flowers too. I always hit the middle of the line on small stuff instead of the outside edge of the line on the stencil. Donno if that makes sense. The same happened in the right eye, the small white spots were too closed in. Then i forgot the yellow highlights in the eye too. The wooden thingys in her hair too, the right one is too closed in at the tip. Not enough green above her left knee where the dress is, the dress splits and the lack of green makes it look like you see her upper leg there instead of the part in the dress. In my opinion, the white highlight on the very top puff of her hair doesn't look like it belongs there. The thick side parts of the fan... the line work in the top one is a bit hollow. The bottom left side of her face the blue should be darker brushing towards the lip. I could go on and on. See!! I can do it too! I was always a fan of the step by steps, it allows me to pick apart my work one step at a time instead of looking at a finished photo and not seeing the stuff i fixed or disguised with shading or color. I especially like line work photos because i get to see things in photos i didn't catch during the tattoo. Even if the tattoo is going to be filled in solid black i try to do the outline as clean as possible instead of leaving it alone and tucking some shading up against the mistakes to hide it. If you do line work knowing you want to take photos of it when it's done, you'll try harder on it. If you just take pics of the finished product, you'll take short-cuts and end up teaching yourself bad habits cuz you find ways to hide sloppiness. Try it from time to time, you'll see what i mean. It helps alot.

I actually started out taking pics of the linework and then the finished product on every single tattoo...not sure when or why I stopped diong this (I think it was about after my 20th). And it's so true, you see so much more in the pics than in real life! So it is great to look them over and see where you have to improve. Taking pictures is a whole other artform...still gotta practice on that! Do you look at your pic right away after you've done the lining, so that you can correct any booboos you see there, or just use it as a learning experience after the fact?

No, actually when i do take line work pics (which isn't as often as i should be) I usually snap the photos and keep going. When i feel i'm done, and looked it all over. I try to get in the habit of looking it over to make sure i caught everything, then moving to the next stage. I try to do it without having to find out in the pics just to see if i can spot it during the tattoo. Like the Geisha yesterday, after wiping and staring at it for 4 hours i thought i was done and didn't forget anything. I took countless pictures of it, wiped it down, took more pics, And didn't see that i left the yellow out of the eyes until i was posting the photos. I submitted it and when it popped up on the screen for the first time that's when i noticed it. It's always like that seems like. So I keep trying to find those things before the camera catches it. Doesn't work that well though lol.
