When I was working on the motivatonal screenshot for the one about Kagome being in high school another thought came to me and after a fellow DeviantArt member also mentioned the same thought to me in a comment to the screenshot I really had to put this one together.
If you seriously stop to think about it for a minute, Kagome really did waste 3 years in high school for nothing. For some parts of the series we see Kagome get all panicky about falling behind in her studies or having nightmares about of not getting into high school or even flunking out of junior high. But in the FA series of InuYasha we see her get into a high school (a true miracle) and she is all happy about it but three years later after the defeat of Naraku we see her graduating with her friends who all tell about their career plans and Kagome makes the decision to go back to feudal era of Japan and live out the rest of her days with InuYasha. So in ways all those times she spent cramming for high school, ended up going and finally graduating was all for nothing.
Yeah, she got a diploma but she can't use 500 years in the past. Now some might argue how Kasumi Tendo became like a "housewife" after she graduated from high school in Ranma 1/2 but when you compare them both they are two totally different matters as Kasumi took over the family matriarch after the death of her mother she might have gone to college if her mother was still alive, but the case for Kagome is still different.

I don't really think it was a total waste. I mean she managed to complete 3 of her goals: completing the jewel, getting rid of Naraku, and getting into a high school. She even graduated! She managed to not only do what she felt was her duty but complete it with good results. That's gotta be good on the self-esteem. And in Japanese culture isn't schooling super important to the point that it can affect the enitre family's honor/reputation? Plus high school allowed her to interact with other people, maybe gain more perspective and insight into different types of relationships and ways to communicate and compromise. A person I spoke to at length about Inuyasha before told me that they were glad she was seperated from Inuyasha for those 3 years as it allowed her to mature and grow as a person and truly know that being with Inuyasha in the past is what she wants with little to no regrets. And I have to say I agree with that assessment. Also by completing her required years of schooling she can disappear off the face of planet (her time wise) with little negative affect as no one but her family know that she's missing for good and their totally cool with it cuz they know she's in good hands. So to anyone who bothers to ask, she moved super far away with a man she married for love. Which probably wouldn't be many ppl and likely not persistently as high school connections tend to fade pretty fast. She's now old enough to do this with little to no issue, so it all worked in her favor. If she had left sooner there would be issues about a missing minor and if the family were unable to look suitably upset they'd became suspicious to the ppl and the law y'know?

Poor Kagome, she never thought she would be able to go back to Inuyasha someday, but I'm sure she doesn't regret it.
Maybe a little basic modern Biology knowledge can be usefull, since she is sort of a healer now...

I am sure she doesn't regret it either but you do also have a point of Kagome possibly becoming a better healer if she took biology during High School which I am sure she did.

To be honest how much biology would she have known to be a good healer I mean we are talking about high school biology not university level. Here in the Uk the level of biology in high school is not enough for one person to be able to use it to heal people. I know because my daughter is in her end of high school and is studying biology. And Kagome was never the smartest stool let's be honest. She will need all of Kaede help and some books.
i am reading a fanfiction story were Kagome is super intelligent ( she has got a unlimited amount of knowledge) and a super healer. She even knows how to heal youkai. I could not help myself and had to ask the writer when did Kagome go to University and how come she was she sooo knowledgeable.
