Written Version: Scarlet River P1 The moon was a sliver in the sky, only dimly shining on a winter night. Darkness clung to the snow-covered forest below; deep shadows lying beneath the bare, black branches. Through thick swathes of snow a young cat struggled forward. Her head barely cleared the surface of the cold, white substance, and her brown, silver-striped coat was plastered to her sides, revealing a jutting ribcage. She had been running for many suns and moons now, relying on instinct and a darker resource...one that the kit tried hard to ignore.
She took another faltering step, her paws numb. I have to get help. She thought faintly. Her next paw-step slipped, and she fell into the icy drifts, weakly shivering. Through half-closed eyes, she stared up through the bare arms of the trees. The sky was dark and clouded, the claw-like moon half covered. welp she has a point. Just because she can't help you with saving your family doesn't mean they haven't still helped you so far. Though I understand why River is so angry. Ugh I hate being able to see things from both sides xD

River, being a rogue cat, has very little understanding of the delicate balance of power and politics among the four Clans. If any significant group of warriors leaves a single Clan's territory for an extended period of time, other Clans may see that as an opportunity to expand their hunting grounds. ShadowClan is notorious for such opportunistic tactics. Lightstar cannot spare her warriors for the sake of a rogue cat to attack a faraway group of violent strays, especially given the risk that would present in turning said group of cats into an immediate threat.
What's happened to River is indeed horrible, but Lightstar's duty is to ensure the protection of her Clan and its territory. Assisting in River's proposed rescue mission would only put ThunderClan at risk.

I'm solidly with River here. From her point of view, these cats are willing letting her family be tortured and/or killed, but they gave her food so that makes it okay. I'd be upset too...

Well I mean they can’t just start risking their life for a rogue that just came along, they did their best atleast to help her survive. But fighting an army would’ve just ended up in more deaths

Lightstar can't just send a bunch of warriors several days' journey away in order to mount an attack against a significantly larger group that has no knowledge of their existence. Especially not with RiverClan and ShadowClan maintaining full forces of warriors in their own territories. She'd be weakening ThunderClan's security for a perfect stranger to enter a skirmish that would undoubtedly lead to a larger conflict later on. Lightstar's just being pragmatic, which is a critical quality for clan leaders.

I'd be upset too but as a Clan they have no idea what they'd be getting themselves into, nor has there been any concern in the past within the Clan. Echo has a point on they did help her and not let her starve in cruelty.
