I used to work with a lot of layers, but it kept getting really confusing. On this one, I think the most I ever had at one point was 4: background, sketch, colors and extra lights. Then, I realized that I was already doing my coloring in the sketch layer and merged those. After that, the lights looked fine, so I merged those too.

How are you able to draw so well with bamboo, when I draw it looks like a squiggle that grew a mustache!

Small strokes. When I first got it, I tried to go for the long, pretty, unbroken lines that I keep seeing in other people's lineart. Maybe some people can do that, but it didn't work for me. I basically dab at it until I get the shape that I want. You could tell in the messiness of the lines
