So, I just got this game about two weeks ago, and, shameful admission: I haven't even sat down and played it yet. ....I've just been obsessively, trance-like modding it. I have a problem. Send help?This latest project was birthed by some musey inspiration from BastianGreyWolf , specifically his crazy-good :fav.me/dbbiwfm : Check it out!
He also clued me in to a nifty mod over at the Nexus, created by bashNinja called "DynamicNPCSprites". ...in a nutshell, it allows the Stardew Valley programing to dynamically change spritesheets during gameplay. IE: The NPC's can have different outfits depending on the season or weather. It's a great mod.... that no one seemed to have made actual sprites for yet. ....THUS THIS WAS BORN. *end scene*
Right now, Alex is the only one with all four complete spritesheets finished, but my main goal is to get all 12 Marriageable characters completed. In the meantime though, I figured I would give you guys a bit of a teaser so you know what I'm working on.
In addition to my own frankensteining, I'm currently using Poltergeister 's "Slightly Cuter Character Sprites" mod as a base , because I like their re-styled proportions, and lack of bow-leggeyness. Also in play is Chrysanthe 's "Harvey Refined" because it's brilliant and turned Harvey into less of a swamp monster.
Let me know what you think, or if you have any ideas for fun personality-based outfits for any of the other NPC's!

These are amazing but gosh, the outfits you chose for Haley are just spot on what I think her fashion sense would be <3

Better hair and face shape and the glasses too ♥ ALEX TOO OMG 100/10 But the shorts kinda makes him look like hes wearing a boxer but whatevah hahaha I dont particularly like Haley's bra.. a sando is okay but its free and pretty and I know its a lot of work to edit so JUST THANK YOU AND I HOPE TO SEE THE COMPLETE VERSION OF THIS SOON ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ps.: I hope you remove sebastians emo hair... and put like two eyes in the sprite just a suggestion but feel free to ignore meeee

Yeah. lol. I I see what you're saying about Haley's summer outfit. It's supposed to be a bikini top, but the white does make it seem more generic 'bra'-ish. I wanted to keep it in her pink/blue/white color scheme, so maybe I can push the blue in the jean shorts a bit, and then change the top to pink. ...maybe play with the pixels around the neckline to make it more of a halter? lol. Thanks for pointing that out!
And I was thinking the same thing as you with Alex's summer boardshorts... but then I figured bro-boxers weren't really that far off from swimtrunks anyway. lol. You're making me re-think the polkadots though. ...maybe I'll just add a yellow stripe to the sides instead? It'll kinda tie in with the piping on his jacket that way.
Sebastian and Sam are going to get extra flavor too. Mostly because they are teens, (younger than Alex, Shane, and Elliot) and I want to reflect that a bit more in their sprite re-design. ...Sebs will still have emo-ish asymmetrical hair I think, but it's not going to be as cartoonish. It'll be more subtle. ...and I'm killing Sam's mullet with ALL OF THE FIRE. Like, even the idea of that mullet will be demolished and sent to the deepest, darkest, pit of the underworld, never to be seen again by the light of day.
...also I already have two different versions of Elliot I'm looking at. One is a complete redesign with a more modern preppy look (think blazer, pastel shorts, and sperrys) and a shortened but foppish, Shawn from Boy Meets World hairdo, and the other is more of the Original!Flavor version with the somewhat victorian three-piece-suit and Fabio hair aesthetic.

Haley doesn't look like she's wearing a bra to me, looks more like a crop top and she strikes me as a crop top gal in the warmer weather. Guess it would work if you made it pink or did the halter look you mentioned but this looks fine too. And as for Alex's shorts they look like shorts I've seen guys wearing on the street, granted I'm from Auz so everyone wears shorts that small XD
And I'll respond here to your other response, sorry haven't been on in ages. I love that your trying to keep close to their canon personalities! Harvey's a sunblock wearing ugly sweater totting dork, Haley's Barbie doll cute and Alex has that bro look to him. All your edits for the other guys sound amazing too, modern prep Elliot Eep!

So, yeah his original sprite hair is a bit of a shocker
I don't want to step on your creativity too much but if you've started thinking about Emily, her clothes need to be more stylish than her canon dress. It looks like she's wearing the offspring of a curtain and a grannys nightgown when she's says she loves fashion and making her own clothes. I don't know if you've looked at other sprite mods but this is a recurring theme, right after less scary looking Harvey

Love everything you've done here! I wish this was a game option, everyone would look so cute in winter gear at the star festival. And look how dorky Harvey looks with that sunblock :3 You're right, what the flip happened with Harvey's original sprite it looks so monster like. Harvey refined saved it for me, I like the version with the stache.

^_^ I'm working on it! I think I'm going to re-design and do a full sheet for everyone for the flower dance/egg hunt too. ...and maybe do bathing suits for everyone at the Luau.
...and if you think Harvey looks dorktastic with the sunblock, wait until you see the back of his christmas sweater. ....still debating if it's going to be a wonky christmas tree or a reindeer. Ugly!ChristmasSweater FTW!
Totally planning on editing his sprite to include a moustache option too, btw. The preview is just using the base that I've been using in my personal game. (which uses Harvey Refined as ITS base. ^_^)
