Description This mallard was flying and decided it was time to come in for a landing! I was so happy to be in the right place at the right time to get this shot.

Mallard ducks are a very colourful duck specie

The hens (females) not so much, but the drakes (males) most certainly are, especially their heads. So many colors reflect in that dark green sometimes. Beautiful!

Of course it is. I do things like that all the time and it aggravates the stew out of me, but I have MS and it tends to scramble my brain sometimes.

Ah, that's very common in the birds' species, with the females being more colorful than the males

You've got it backwards, the males are usually more colorful than the females and I don't think it's fair. The female is usually the one who does all the work!!!!!!!! SHE should be able to be the pretty one, after all she's female, lolol.

I think there is also a bird species where the male is the one who sits on the eggs, but I can't remember which one.

I just happened to be in the right place at the right time that day visiting my Mom to get this one and the ones of the ducks flying. I was so happy to get all of them.

Trully indeed, as I say so... over the technique, the great trick in photography is beeing in the right place at the right time

A simple composition, yet very intriguing...
Great job on capturing it without it blurring too much
I love the fact that the mallard is at the corner and that you get to see some of the water, instead of it being in the dead center.
An amazing photograph... great job

I hate centered photographs. Seems like everyone centers everything. Lately, I have been trying not to center everything. I definitely think it makes for a more interesting photo. Thanks for all of your very kind words. That one wing blurred a little, but he came in so fast, there was no time to focus the camera. I just had to point and shoot and hope for the best! So happy it turned out as well as it did!

I agree; an off-centered photograph is definitely a more interesting one then one in the center.
You are very welcome and great job again on this shot
