Description Yay for abstractions of a sort.

I love this painting for how it occurred--visually it isn't the best, but I loved sitting down one Saturday morning and just PAINTING. I really wanted to do something just based in worship, so I listened to some music--Hillsong United's "How He Loves" and some of Mattie Montgomery's preaching stuff (he's the lead singer of For Today).

And then... this came out. I like the personal emotion to it. Yeah.

Good stuff. Sort of like vent art, but it's not ANGRY vent art. That pleases me.

Done in acrylic. 16 x 20 canvas. Original for sale--note me if interested.

It reminds me of how in the Old Testament, sacrifice was made as a form of worship, and the scent was "a sweet-smelling savour" to God. Nice work!

I love doing paintings like this, just sitting down and letting your emotions take over. One of my favorite paintings I've done was like that. It's great for any kind of emotion (although especially great for anger haha.) Good job! Kinda reminds me of a tree and the branches are reaching up to the Heavens, and it's all colorful because they're so full of joy. haha I'm wierd.

I totally see a tree in this, too! I did the top colors first and then added the sort of trunk at the bottom afterward--thanks for noticing that!

Yay worship/emotion/random paintings!

haha You're welcome. Glad I'm not crazy for seeing that.

I love your art. As I said before, it's rare for me to find Christian art I like, but I like a lot of yours. I wish I could do more of my own, but oil takes so long to dry. I love and hate that about it. lol Plus I run out fast. Grr. But yeah, it's nice to see some that are good.

Aaaah, oil is so wonderful but finishing a piece is such a long process. I'm relatively impatient when it comes to art (I want it done right away) so oil has taught me a lot about patience! They're so expensive, tooo... BUT a beautiful medium overall!

This piece was actually acrylic, which is much harder for me to work with. It dries SO FAST. O____O

Yeah I'm the exact same way. I've become a lot more patient since using oil. I hate using acrylic because I can't fix anything. It's like using a pen instead of pencil. Once it's there, it's there. I like using oil because I can change things as I need to without having to worry about it. Plus the colors are soo much more vibrant than acrylic. I was in awe the first time I tried them out. haha

They're not too expensive for me, I suppose, because the closest art store is an hour away, so I have to settle with Walmart paints. Which wouldn't be so much of a problem for me, but they only sell packets of little tubes and have no bigger ones like they do acrylic. So I run out of certain colors fast and have to buy a whole new pack just to get one or two colors.

Yes, yes... I'm just overall not a fan of acrylic, but I still use it occasionally (especially when I don't want to deal with the mess that is oils). It's good for quick paintings!

Ah, yes, the little Wal-mart tubes are tiny! Stock up next time you get to the art store, I suppose... The nearest art store is about the same distance for me, so I've learned to deal with wal-mart stuff like the cheap canvases. Not my favorites, but still necessary at times!

haha Yeah. My birthdays soon so hopefully I can go to the actual art store and get some good supplies. Dunno. I'd stock up on more than one packet of oils but my father is a comic book artist and doesn't have a consistent pay day, just whenever he's done with books or pages, then they'll pay him. So we can't splurge a lot. So, gotta deal with it. haha It's okay though, I've taken to doing little fan art drawings when I can't paint, so that's helped.

Little drawings are fun! They help keep me sane when I can't spend a lot of time on a piece.

Have fun with whatever you do next, though!

Indeed! (I'm actually listening to them now!) Their new song "Like an Avalanche" is fantastic...
