Description In 1977, the Apple II entered the market as one of the first true personal computers (then called microcomputers) and the first one to display color graphics.  Most of the Apple II was designed by Steve Wozniak, while Steve Jobs worked on the futuristic white plastic case (ancestor of the sleek style of the modern iPhone and other gadgets) and Rod Holt developed the switching power supply.  The computer had 64 kilobytes of memory, with an additional 140 kilobytes on the 5.25-inch floppy disk drive, and could display images at up to 280 x 192 pixels.  This vintage Apple II is displayed at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C.
