Description
Llongyfarchiadau ("Congratulations" in Welsh)!
UNESCO has designated a new World Heritage Site in the "top left-hand corner" of Wales under the name "The Slate Landscape of Northwest Wales" so I decided to dig up some pictures from my first ride on a heritage steam train there, the (approximately) two-foot gauge Llanberis Lake Railway. The locomotive that day was former Port Dinorwic shunter 0-4-0ST «Dolbadarn» (Hunslet 1430, 1922), which on the return trip from Penllyn to Llanberis over part of the Dinorwic slate quarry's Padarn Railway route stopped at Gilfach Ddu for coal and water. While waiting for the train to restart, I took some pictures of «Dolbadarn» with the National Slate Museum in the background. Photographed on 2016/05/25.
