Description Diorama at the Baltimore Streetcar Museum of Professor Leo Daft's conversion of the Baltimore & Hampden Railway to an early electric tramway in 1885, with third-rail electric locomotive Morse pulling a horse tram through the intersection of Chestnut Avenue and 33rd Street.  Streetcars soon converted to Frank Sprague's overhead trolley system, which was safer for pedestrians and animals, but many subways and a few other electric railroads adopted the third rail.
