Description The U.S.-based Plymouth Cordage Company's Canadian factory in Welland, Ontario contained a railroad of 40.5-inch gauge (almost 1030 millimeters), which used compressed-air locomotives to reduce the fire hazard.  A surviving single-tank 0-4-0 (H.K. Porter 3500, 1906) is displayed in front of the John Street Roundhouse as the Toronto Railway Museum's only narrow-gauge locomotive, and it was the only narrow-gauge locomotive I can remember seeing when I visited Canada last winter.
