Description A "jikoshorisha" (事故処理車, literally "accident processing car") is a Japanese police car used for responding to car accidents, redirecting traffic, supervising investigations, enforcing drunk-driving/seatbelt-wearing laws, and other traffic-related functions.  Usually a Nissan Caravan, Toyota Hiace, or Mazda Bongo, the jikoshorisha will carry high-mounted lights, sometimes on a cupola to provide observation of traffic by a police officer on duty, and will also carry signs to warn and control traffic.  My local police department, the Shizuoka Prefectural Police, deployed this Nissan Caravan one November day as I was walking by City Hall.
