Description Royal Air Force (RAF) Sopwith 7F.1 Snipe biplane fighter E6938 appeared in several Hollywood movies after World War I and was acquired by the Canada Aviation and Space Museum in 1964.  It was flown to Ottawa by Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Wing Commander Paul A. Hartman, and last flown at an airshow in 1967 (centenary of Canadian confederation) by Wing Commander David P. Wightman, after which it has remained on static display.  While E6938 is not known to have had any Canadian pilots in RAF service, the Snipe is closely connected to Canada as Major W.G. Barker (Canadian in British Royal Flying Corps) earned the Victoria Cross for shooting down three German fighters when his Snipe was ambushed by a squadron of fifteen.  Despite crashing, he survived both the battle and the war!
