The U.S. Navy's version of the Consolidated B-24 Liberator bomber was the PB4Y Privateer maritime patrol bomber, which had a single tall tailfin that gave it a passing resemblance to the Imperial Japanese Navy's Nakajima G8N Renzan. This model of a PB4Y-2 Privateer is displayed at the San Diego Aerospace Museum as X505 Redwing, which served with patrol bombing squadron VPB-106 until the end of World War II. The "Wolverators" were based at Tinian in the Marianas and Palawan in the Philippines, and sank several Japanese ships during their service.Related content
