Thanks! Yes, it was a choice of mine to leave the people out. I wanted to convey a
certain feeling of emptiness to contrast with the festive feeling that the decorations give to the scene. It is some kind of a melancholic and at the same time nostalgic feeling that I get when I see such scenes.

yes i understand that i have a painting very similar called Old Town Quebec there are people in it but i minimize them by not painting them with much contrast they are like ghosts. yours dose have that quality good job Sir. Β

Did you know that, in nature, there are no absolutely straight lines? Β And this is also so in most man made things. Your painting is beautiful and I had to look carefully when I came to it because at first I thought it was an actual photograph. Β Nicely done.Β

YouΒ΄re welcome. I often use rulers for straight lines and then soften them a bit by drawing thin layers by free hand along the line.

I like to use the square ruler. I keep one ready without rotating it so that I can quickly check if my lines are exactly horizontal or vertical.
