Loved this scene, from the Baroness's ambush to her taunting dialog following it. I love it when she talks about the sleeping gas and the new chains, as if they acquired these just to deal with Wonder Woman.

And the Baroness teasing Wonder Woman gave her time to get her strength back so she could break the chains.

Ah interesting perspective. I've always seen it as Wonder Woman was playing possum in the chains. She knew she could break free but waited for the Baroness to reveal the plan. I like your idea, that she needed time to recover. Would have been great to see a scene of WW struggling in the chains, then looking tried and weak after failing to break them.

Wonder Woman also needed to know what the Baroness was planning, and she had to worry about Steven and the Warden's Son if she moved too quickly.

She did struggle a big in chains in the Murderous Missile after being doses with sleep gas.Β  Wonder Woman had to listen to the main Villain explain his plan while chained up.

Right I remember that from the later episode, guys should have taken her belt

They did take her belt and put her in a cell in The Bushwhackers in season one.Β  One of the War Orphans saw it happen and got help.Β  I think originally they were going to chloroform her and chain her up in the cell like the Murderous Missile but changed it and saved the scene for later.

I recall that one, I have to admit I was a little disapointed since WW wasn't in her costume for the scene. I figure the outfit was easier for Lynda with all the riding stuff they did but the peril fan in me was like 'Hey!" LOL

Interesting note on the scene change. It be real inserting to know the 'what ifs' or alternate ideas they had for now classic peril scenes from WW and other shows.Β

The Red Blouse and white Pants she wore were because Roy Rogers thought it was a little too revealing.Β  This is strange because his wife Dale Evans wore a shorter skirt in one of her movies in the 1940s.Β

Wonder Woman was suppose to be chloroformed and put in the car originally in the Bushwhackers.Β  Pamela Hensley was stalked on an episode of Matt Houston and the man soaked a cloth with chloroform but didn't use it.Β  Laurence Harvey soaked a cloth with chloroform in Welcome To Arrow Beach to use on Meg Foster but his sister Joanna Pettet talked him out of using it.

Oh really? Thanks for the BTS info. I love how revealing in the 70s consisted of a what was basically a leotard/bathing suit look and tights LOLΒ

Another missed opportunity scene there with WW! I consider the scene from the Pied Piper to be another of those, where the girls (BTW loved their outfits, stocking masks, leotards and tights) use those gas bullets on WW. They totally should have gone for the KO there.Β

Oh yes.Β  Then Wonder Woman has to escape a sonic trap and free Jan Brady.Β  Maybe Her character could have become her sidekick in the series and become a Cassie Sandsmark like Wonder Girl.Β  The problem the series had was the lack of other superheroes and villains.

Yeah thats the odd thing about early superhero TV shows. Adventures of Superman, Wonder Woman, The Hulk, and Spider-Man (70s) never had supervillians in the normal sense. It was always like gangsters, spies, and the occasional mad scientist. I guess it had to prob do with budget. Effects for one character were prob expensive enough, two would be too much.

Batman 66 was the exception but even then most of Batman’s foes were humans with a gimick or tech.

Would have loved to see WW from S1 go up against the original Cheetah.

I always thought Loni Anderson would have made a great Cheetah.Β  It would have been Priscilla Rich, an heiress who wore a skin tight cheetah costume and was jealous of Wonder Woman.

Right, Priscilla Rich was the one I was thinking off. I've always had the idea to write that story using her as a 'missing' episode from WW Season One. I thought I might have her become obsessed with WWW when she was exposed to a chemical which also gave her super-strength.Β

I looked up Ms. Anderson there, definitely not a bad choice from back then.Β

Loni was of course on WKRP, but also did a SWAT with Farrah Fawcett, and a Barnaby Jones in a Bikini.Β  It could make sense for her to be a Wonder Woman villain if they stayed on ABC and in the 1940s.Β  CBS insisted on making it the 1970s because they thought Nazis weren't interesting villains.Β  Of course CBS also cancelled Hee Haw after two years and it stayed on the air in Syndication for 22 years.

Another great picture! I love the look of evil triumph on the Baroness' face. It's as if she's saying "You loose this time WW!"

It was a very simple but effective trap.Β  Too bad she didn't say something like "Try my perfume, Wonder Woman.Β  It's called Conquest.Β  One whiff and you'll end up in chains!"

I like it! She did indeed end up chained to a chair if I remember rightly.

Then of course, there's the famous catfight and arrest of the Baroness!

And she used her lasso to make the Baroness fall into the pool.

The Baroness was Wonder Woman's first villainess.Β  For the first year she captured and bound Wonder Woman many times.Β  Then Wonder Woman found out The Baroness was being forced to be a spy by the Nazis and reformed her to become an Amazon Scientist.
