Description 10 seconds inside Cottonwood Valley and Moran already has a horse encounter! Awesome!

If this were any other horse, this would be great. Unfortunately Moran is content on his own, and hardly cares whether he has company or not.

A stallion comes up to Moran and the tobiano must decide if he is safe.

You have Options with this bachelor:
1) Since your stallion has no herd, you can create a bachelor herd. This allows you to get a guaranteed event because you will be drawing/writing more that one horse. Of course, if you encounter a mare and choose to keep it, one of the stallions must become a bachelor.
2) You can switch out the stallions so Moran will become a bachelor stallion and Bachelor 30 will be your new lead stallion.
3) You can add Bachelor 30 as your second herd leader, giving you two herds. Just note the fact that you are only allowed two herds in this group.

4) You can have a friendly visit. Since Moran has no mares, what would be the point in fighting?

5) You can fight the bachelor.

Story:

As early mornings go, this was a good one. Cool and breezey, the pleasant air made the travel light. Now abreast this dry ridge, Moran was delighted to spot greenery. For the past few days,
he had mostly desolate pastures. Not even the elk bothered to stay. Water had been scarce and sad to come by, but the travel had been necessary. The band stallions on the eastern side
of the mountains had been increasingly bothered. Moran couldn't graze far enough away in their mind. To be heading west, Moran could see the landscape fade into what was familiar.
He'd surely have much better luck.

After so many mornings of only going up, it was a pleasure to use other muscles and descend the hill. Surely a deer trail would lead him to a watering hole. With his sights set on the treeline,
Moran managed to miss that downwind a fellow bachelor had caught his scent. A deep nicker jolted him out of his trek. And there he was, an energetic jet black stud came trotting across the plain
to meet him. "Hey there!" the black called. As he trotted closer, odd white spots stood out against his night-black coat. Despite the high contrast, the stallion had a very bright face that radiated friendliness.
"Sorry, only a lonely bachelor is your welcoming company, but you don't seem to have brought anything exciting either," the other stallion chided. He seemed to have good humor.

Pulling up, Moran cocked a hindfoot to conversate. "Indeed, it is only me." Casting a glance over the plains, it was interesting that he'd already run into another equine, yet only a single one like himself. Quite
different from where he'd come from with all established families. The black slowed up as well and stood off a good amount of horselengths, Moran appreciated the distance.
"You smell of a newcomer, is this your first time through?" This black stallion seemed piqued by Moran, Moran couldn't see what was so interesting. "I actually come from the timbers well beyond this valley,"
Moran tossed his nose ahead of him, gesturing beyond these rolling hills. "I'm just returning from a scouting trek. Are you a native to here?"

"I see. Well, I've lived here all my life. 'Haven't seen a season where I needed much travel, it's a good temperate land." The black seemed content, he probably had a fear of leaving behind his homeland.
"That's quite the rarity. Where I come from; the snow is the chief. There's no questioning the stuff. You must have learned how to homestead with it." It still seemed odd to never venture and find possibly better land, but the stallion seemed to have faired fine anyways. "We made do." The bachelor stud nodded with his answer and scanned the valley. The land was obviously very familiar to him. His black nostrils flared, breathing in his homeland. He even seemed to get lost in the smell, because it was a good few moments before he turned back to Moran. "Well, since you're going to be in the area at least another day with your travels, want to join up for a few miles? Most bach' bands are overcrowded in my opinion, it'd be better to stay in smaller numbers, wouldn't you say?" It was a nice offer, and Moran could see his point. The fact that Moran even considered it meant that the stallion was fairly tolerable, Moran didn't care much for other stallions' company. Though he did have one 'condition'.

"That's... Sounds like a good plan, but this may be an unconventional question, but if I were to find a stray mare or earn one myself, would you respect the 'finder's rule'?"

The black bachelor seemed to consider that for a moment, it was obviously the first time someone had added a stipulation to a simple band agreement, but Moran was genuinely incquiring. "You mean, like finder's keepers?"
"Yes, that if I found a mare on my own scouting, you wouldn't challenge me for her, and vice versa. We'd merely part ways. If we both spotted the same mare, sure, a challenge would be required, but otherwise, whoever finds; wins in a sense." Even though the black clarified what Moran meant, the stud's brow furrowed even more.

"I'm... Not sure I can really guarantee that, haha." his friendly face scrunched up in a sheepish way. At least he was honest. It was a rather specific rule. Just that when Moran traveled with his half-brothers, it was an unsaid agreement that whoever found the mare, had thus earned her. Why, then, would you travel with your own rivals in hopes of making a harem? Any other arrangement hurt Moran's brain, how illogical. Why would you invite  along your competition?? Not that Moran wouldn't happily defend his newfound prize, in fact he would just as ferociously. But what is the benefit of another stallion if as soon as you find a lone mare(a mare you could have easily found on your own anyway) you're comrade turns less than civil and strikes at you with absolutely no effort in finding this prize? Moran is not so insecure that he needs another set of eyes and ears watching his back, especially through such placid territory as this. This is the very reason why Moran silently prefers to travel alone.

"Well, I appreciate your honesty and thank you for the offer. I would have loved to have your experience with the area. I wish you success in your endeavors." Moran stepped out and nodded to the black stallion. The bachelor stood and returned the sentiments. As they passed one another both horses flared their nostrils, taking a deep smell of the other's scent. Good information for the future if they were to cross paths again. Stepping deep under his hind, Moran started his descent towards the greener lane.

[note, Moran is born and raised on the Western side(the way he's facing and traveling now) but he is currently coming from the east, he has already crossed this valley before on an excursion(at a brisker pace), now he's returning 'home' hopefully]
