Description On The Turntable In 1958: 'Splish Splash' - Bobby Darin
Another favorite song. I always pair favorite songs with favorite cars and trucks. As I look over the lists of songs from 1958 I notice that a lot of my favorites are from 1958. And my family bought a 1958 Dodge that eventually became my first car. It was a very good year.
1958 Craze: Hula Hoop
There is something about watching a sexy gal with a hula hoop that makes me drool. But, I'm a dog and thusly, I drool.

Front view of today's special presentation of this lovely 1958 Dodge Sweptline 100 pickup truck. The photos posted today are from two car shows last summer, this one was taken at the Mopars North of the Gate car show, where it was featured right at the entrance to the Jacuzzi Family Winery where the show took place. It was a gorgeous day, in a beautiful setting with some of the best Mopars I've seen in a long time. Some of you have seen the one-owner Daytona, the Hemi Super Bee and Cuda, the Pink Panther Charger, the Mod Top Barracuda and others from this show. I spent hours there taking photos, talking to owners, sipping a glass of Jacuzzi Family wine now and then (not too much, I had to drive) and cleaning up after drooling all over the cars. And there are lots more Mopars coming up from this show - but not today. Gotta save something for the time until car show season starts up again.

Before a day of driving around and looking good, Sweetie and I would wash our cars. Splish Splash we were taking a bath! I now draw the curtain on the rest of this story so I don't have to give it a mature content rating

It is the ultimate in not practical - how long would those fins last on a real work truck? But it is ummm . . . different? But I would love to have it!

It is an interesting and unique design. I would buy that one but my wallet is just a little too thin right now.

1950s chrome is the best! And there was so much of it . . .

I reckon this Sweptside would look
even cooler with metallic paintwork.

It is. I hate the cars now there are so boring the 50's , 60's and some of the 70's are the best. The cars now all look the same and no chrome.
