Description

**update; made so you see the clouds behind the props**

Towards the end of WWII, japan was working on a plane that could effectively intercept the high-altitude b-29. One of those planes was the Kyushu J7W "shinden".

The shinden was designed around the fact that "if the Japanese were to develop a jet engine, this was the plane to put it into". as we know, japan never had a working jet fighter. this plane, powered by a pusher prop, could have been able to be converted to a jet, when the engine were to become available

As always, done in Sketchup and edited in GIMP

so honestly, I could not make the jet version, because I have no idea what it would look like. we can assume that the fuselages would be the same, be we can only guess about everything elese

there never was a jet version. to be exact, only 2 were ever made. I made this photo to be what it'd look like if the war went on for one more year, and then this plane would be in full combat and production. the Shinden was created at the very end of the war. in fact the first flight of the Shinden was on august 3rd 1945, 3 days prior to the bombing of Hiroshima. So this plane never saw combat, and the version with the Turbine/Turbojet/Jet never even reached the drafting tables. by my guess, it wouldn't look much different from this version, but with bigger air intakes.

but you still cant go wrong with this. this variant had a 6 blade prop, and had a 2130 HP engine and could go about 470 MPH
