Thanks as usual! It definitely is tough to catch a cat in a non-photogenic pose. Maybe I should be trying for that instead of these run of the mill portrait shots, eh?

Thanks. He really did pose well for me. Lots of great looks while I was there, even if he was just ignoring me the whole time.

I hope they don't become extinct

Same here. It's a grim situation for them (and just about every other large carnivore in the world) though. It'll definitely be an uphill battle for the foreseeable future, but hopefully we will find a way.

although Sumatra island located in my country, I can't do anything against them.
poachers are everywhere.... and they also sell the tiger skin.
the younger generation is also not much care, this is difficult.
now, the issue is about funding too.

i hope we will find a way soon

I see my own cat in those eyes.  San Fran zoo, I just finished writing a chapter in my SciFi book involving that zoo.

Ah, very cool. How exactly do you tie the SF Zoo to science fiction, if you don't mind my asking?

The world is a very different place in 500 years (give or take).  Artificial Intelligence has evolved and risen up over the war torn human society (no not like Terminator).  Some humans have embraced what the AI have done, transference.  One of the ugly off shoots is a new kind of slavery, Chimera slaves.  Humans who have either chosen or been force into, have been down loaded into cloned animals (sometimes enhanced other times not enhanced).  One of my main character, a house cat that was digitized then latter downloaded into an enhanced snow leopard clone, was being held hostage in the SF zoo.  Perseus is an uplifted animal (his time spent in the digital domain elevated (evolved) his self awareness to human levels of intelligence. At the moment in the story, he is unique as an uplifted species. My scene in the SF zoo takes place mostly in the Lion's House.  I visited the zoo myself back in the early 80s, when my family made a west loop vacation that included driving from northern CA to southern CA.  The entire SF and SF zoo scene occur in three chapters.  I have posted in G+ several exerts from this book (the sequel to the soon to be publish 1st book) for public viewing.  here are the links if you wish to read.

Interesting concept. Always fun mixing fiction with reality like that. Kind of grounds the story and gives it a real world basis as a liftoff point. Thanks for sharing.
