Description Here is a fanboy painting. I love CONAN and everything Robert E. Howard! I hope this one is not too violent for the kids!

Oh wow, this rocks! It's seriously cool that you managed to do all the classic Frazetta tropes - Conan cleaves through his foes, bad guys falling backwards, very underdressed lady - without doing the Frazetta triangle composition. And motion, with Conan charging forwards rather than standing there being grim!

Oh yeah, got the Complete Chronicles of Conan by REH and read it TWICE.. It's more epic than Lord of the Rings if u ask me.

I have Solomon Kane at home that I have not read yet. I love that guy, more of a darker hero...but he is super religious...weird huh?

stofo In reply to RobbVision [2009-01-02 22:08:28 +0000 UTC]

Cool, I've heard about Solomon Kane! Haven't read it though. It should be good, gonna check to see if my local sci-fi and fantasy bookstore has it Yeah it's weird considering REH was pretty much an atheist, huh?

RobbVision In reply to stofo [2009-01-03 04:24:39 +0000 UTC]

He was a unique guy. When you get a chance, watch "the Whole wide world" starring Renee Zellwiger. It looks like a "chick-flick" romance movie but it is all about REH and his relationship with his girlfriend who was a schoolteacher. The movie covers his death as well. Very sad, but you get a feeling of how eccentric he was! I actually got the movie for Christmas as a gift.

Soloman is as badass as Conan, but more of a "thinking" reserved man than a wild beer drinking, womanizing, warrior.

stofo In reply to RobbVision [2009-01-03 11:02:31 +0000 UTC]

Thats awesome man, will look into it immediately! Sound very interesting! Didn't even know they made a movie about him. Thanks for telling me about it. Since I think that Conan was quite intelligent and an "anomaly" compared to other Cimmerians who prefered to stay in their hills and mountains then Soloman must be really intelligent.

RobbVision In reply to stofo [2009-01-03 15:50:19 +0000 UTC]

you have a good point, plus Conan always finds his way out of problems as well as defeating "genius" sorcerers.

the movie abut REH is more of a slower paced romance film, but it is very interesting.

Yeah somehow he always seem to have luck or the gods on his side btw I'm downloading the Whole wide world as we speak. Gonna watch it after dinner! Thanks alot for telling me about it, it's going to be very interesting!

To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women.

...and Twix, Slurpees and boobs.
Facts.

Me and a coworker recite that almost everyday. We always talk about reminding each other of the "Riddle of Steel". I will point to my pencil and say, "This.....you can trust."

Arnold yelling in ANY movie is always laughter central.
I'm also a camel-punching enthusiast.

RobbVision In reply to CabinetMinister [2008-12-17 03:30:15 +0000 UTC]

I love that...I crack up when I see him as Mr. Freeze...unfortunately, the only scenes in that movie I can tolerate watching are scenes with Arnold, because he is so funny in it...."KILL DA HEROES!!!!!"

"EVERYBODY....CHILLLLLLL........"

The rest of that movie with the bat-boot-skates...dumb gorilla Bane...and Alicia Silverstone gives me hives.

Don't get me wrong...Alicia Silverstone is nice to look at...but we have to draw a line somewhere.

CabinetMinister In reply to RobbVision [2008-12-17 04:56:27 +0000 UTC]

Ugh. Batman movies. *shudder* I stick to the pages or animated.

Yeah, what ever happened to Alicia Silverstone?
Fell through the cracks of the industry, she did.

For pure Arnold comedy gold, you can't go past Commando though.
That film needs to be playing 24-7 in museums for all to behold.

That is a beautiful painting. I really like the blunt motion sense of the characters, reminiscent of Frank Frazetta's work. I also really like how the lighning wit a bit if subtlelty guides us to the focal point of the painting, Conan, the cornerstone over which everything manly stands. Awesome painting.

RobbVision In reply to regourso [2008-07-06 03:37:17 +0000 UTC]

thanks so much! It was inspired by Frazetta and a little by Bruce Timm's Conan stuff. I love that guy.

You have great work in your gallery!
