Description Here is a painting that will be part of my website. This is Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec , one of my favorite painters. A few years back I was able to visit an exhibit of his original posters at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Very cool!

Tolouse-Latrec! Man, that guy was awesome! It's a pity his life was so screwed up, though it's probably why he was so darn good!

hahah I especially love all the books, the dude was seriously short. I remember writing a report about him once, with the whole "fell ina ditch, broke both legs" thing

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RobbVision In reply to kyan [2007-11-13 01:50:37 +0000 UTC]

He is an interesting guy...his legs never set right and he did not grow. He was riding a horse and was thrown off. I didn't know that leg-thing was possible....

kyan In reply to RobbVision [2007-11-13 11:07:42 +0000 UTC]

yeah, it's really odd. He broke his legs several times didn't he? It was like "fell, broke legs" few months pass "fell, broke legs"
bizzare

I was more of a fan of Seurat but awesome image nonetheless. Feel very sorry for how his life was though what with all his health problems

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RobbVision In reply to fragmeister [2007-09-02 03:45:31 +0000 UTC]

I know...he had a lot of bad things happening with him physically. i had heard he broke both legs as a child riding a horse and the legs never set right. Poor guy. He sure was a huge talent.

fragmeister In reply to RobbVision [2007-09-02 10:01:40 +0000 UTC]

Yeah he had major growth problems not only with his legs but other parts of his body too. He also had a problem with his genitals which made them extremely extremely large. Very peculiar

Theres more on it from Wikipedia but heres some information from there:

"At ages 13 and 14, Henri fractured both his thigh bones. The breaks did not heal properly (modern physicians attribute this to an unknown genetic disorder along the lines of osteoporosis or osteogenesis imperfecta; others speak of rickets aggravated with praecox virilism), and his legs ceased to grow, so that as an adult he was only 1.52 m/5 ft tall, having developed an adult-sized torso but retained his child-sized legs (0.70 m/27.5 in long). On the other hand, he had hypertrophied genitals as some of his photos prove"
