Description Another image of the Archer. This model actually has small interior spaces behind the windows, so I tried scaling a Poser character and dropping her in.

This features my revised "ship insignia" for the bow.

This image is the best representation of the design I have thus far seen. I like the crew-person in the view port, as it gives some sense of the actual size of the ship. Frankly, to me it makes a German U-Boat look spacious and palatial. Its hard to imagine how a warp core could be miniaturized and still be able to provide the power for the nacelles. "Down The Hole" is quite gripping and gives the sense of impending doom. I often think the cosmologists who named them worm holes, should have just used the more familiar "Rabbit-hole" from Alice in Wonderland. Considering all the speculation about them it would seem more appropriate. The insignia is the gold and black image on the port-side of the ventral structure, abaft of the deflector dish correct? Great art work as always!

Yep, that's the custom ship insignia, underneath. I really like the idea of playing with these lil' rough-n-tumble scouts in the Trek universe

Yup. It's neat to play with something where, if you were serving on, you'd know everyone by (first) name

ah...little people behind windows!
you know by how much I like those!
And here it's a great aid to actually realize how comparably small the Archer is!
That'll make it a LOT easier to back it into a parking space

RobCaswell In reply to LmAnt [2011-10-09 16:24:35 +0000 UTC]

Ah! I'd forgotten about the seductive appeal of the "little ant people"!!!

And remember: "in space, no one can hear you backing up!"

Ahh you meant the registry! Well it seems in the original series most ships used the USS prefix and In STNG it was replaced by the NCC.

RobCaswell In reply to bastler [2011-10-09 16:23:06 +0000 UTC]

Nope. Not the registry, the symbol below, behind the main nav deflector. See my scrapbook for a closeup.

So should we post the conversion somewhere? How does that work??

Drop me the texmaps you've made up and I'll see how she handles in PP2012 (so far, even without them, she's come out pretty well . I haven't created all the spots, yet, though). Has Masao seen the tailfeathers? If he signs off, I say F3D sounds like a good spot to walk the red carpet .

RobCaswell In reply to Ptrope [2011-10-09 17:12:05 +0000 UTC]

OK. I'll send textures and shoot Masao a screenshot later today. He usually responds within a day.

VideoRangerCommander [2011-10-09 00:29:48 +0000 UTC]

I like that you put a person in that front window. It gives me a better grasp of the scale of the ship. So, I'm guessing it would be capable of planetfall?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RobCaswell In reply to VideoRangerCommander [2011-10-09 01:55:10 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. Planetfall. Unfortunately. But at least it makes more sense landing this than something as mucking huge as Voyager

Sorry I have been out of touch of late - new job and lots of stuff landing on me at once. No excuse, just the facts. I love all the images you've done with the Archer. Really captures the image of what a small vessel might be like in a Trek RPG - any you know that's pretty much how I judge everything!

Awesometastic.

Thinking of it. We should chat sometime on the telephonic device - y'know, those lil' talk boxes that all the kids are using these days. At home, I assume.

Transitions are always challenging, but I hope yours is going well and pointed in a good direction.

Unfortunately it "lands". But maybe it uses the shields to create a virtual aeroshell??
