Great piece, love it, although I disagree with your casting. I see Eddie Brock being played by Tom Hardy. I think Kevin would be better as William Baker/Sandman.

I am gonna go out and say it. I LOVE this design.

I find a black Eddie Brock would be an interesting change of face, but like I said with the previous guy, race doesn't matter when it comes to a character, so long as the core elements to a character remain intact and you seem to really have it nailed down.

The suit itself just OOZES with a vibe of raw power and intimidation (no pun intended), just as I've always gotten with Venom. The "mask" really seems to show a very sadistic side to Brocks power and anger, but when the goo is all peeled back, you just see how much hate he has towards the people around him, namely Spiderman/Pete Parker.

Side note. I love that gnarly ass tongue of his. SIIIIIIIIIIIICK.

I don't get what's wrong with a black person playing the role of a normally white character. They have Jamie Foxx cast as Electro for the next movie.

Minor details such as race don't particularly matter. I say so long as the big core details of a character are intact, then I'm all for it. One key example of this was Michael Clarke Duncan (may he rest in peace) as the Kingpin in Daredevil. Wilson Fisk is normally portrayed as a white man, but because Duncans portrayal was very much the same as the Kingpin actually would be in the comics, so that's a great example of "Race doesn't make the character." Still, it's all your opinion. I just respectfully have to disagree and say I might like to see a Black Eddie Brock.

Kingpin is a wealthy fat man and he was it since the day of his creation, which ... was a time where it was not considered normal for a rich business man to be black. So they didn't stay true to the character and his creation.

Perry WHITE, Clark Kents boss was white sind the was introduced in the comics, which lies even more in the past and in the new movie Lawrence Fishbourne was playing him, someone who never changes his facial expression. He basically plays the same character in every movie. Imagine Superman - the first superhero - ended up being a black guy. That would have never happened, because no one would have expected it to sell even remotely well, since it was not like that back then. The same applies for everyone Superman knew.

Now they turned Electro into a black guy and once again it's totally without any reason at all. It's just like they're trying to appeal to as many minorities as possible, something you can very clearly see in the recent DC comics, where they kicked Martian Manhunter from the Justice League, to include Cyborg, who is black. They said that with Superman, they already have an alien, so they needed something else... which is funny, because no one is as human as Superman.

For the Teen Titans they kicked a bunch of people out of the team like Raven (grey) and Beast Boy (green) to include an indian woman, a black chick and hell ... EVEN A GAY MEXICAN! Now I don't have anything against mexicans, nor homosexualls, nor black people, but black actors replace white actors in movies for the wrong reasons. It's like an ode to Obama, who didn't do anything special so far, excect for getting the Nobel prize for doing nothing. He broke many of his promisses and so on.

If they want more black actors in superhero movies, then they should concentrate on black superheroes, since there are some and they are not bad at all. Blade could need a reboot, Black Panther is a great superhero and so is Static and many others.

You do realize that Ultimate Electro is black right? Also don't bring politics to the comment board of a comic redesign. Β It's a great piece of art and you need to understand that comic characters update.

First off, I'm gonna say I agree with you on Obama, that man has done nothing good for anything except his own agenda.

Now, like I said I could really care less about what color an actor is so long as their portrayal of the character is true to the character. One that you left out was Nick Fury in the Avengers. Normally a white man, but played in several Marvel movies by Samuel L Jackson. But they are going off of the General Fury design rather than Colonel Fury.

Another instance of a black man as a white character is Billy Dee Williams, the guy who played Lando Calrissian in Star Wars played Harvey Dent in the old Batman movie staring Micheal Keaton and Jack Nicholson. His race didn't really matter because Dent played such a minor role to the plot it wouldn't matter really... Besides... Jump ahead to Joel Schumackers Batman Forever and we have Tommy Lee Jones as Harvey Two Face.

Now, Kingpin may have been CREATED in a certain time period where it was unusual for a black man to be successful and wealthy, but the time setting of the movie itself is not the case for that. Again, Michael Clarke Duncan captured the feel of Wilson Fisk exceptionally well, keeping his main essence in mind. Strong, smooth, has several connections to the mob, intimidating, etc. A great case of Race doesn't make character.

Perry White, you only emphasized his last name to try and make a point. I found the portrayal in Man of Steel to be just a bit flat, but it really shined during the moment in Metropolis where Zods machine was starting to terraform the earth to Krypton.

Now Superman is a different story. Because Kal-El is such an iconic character and is the main focus of the movie, I don't think they would ever get off the ground with a black Superman. It may be an interesting concept, but it probably wont happen. Just as it's highly unlikely we'd ever see a movie based on the Superman Red Son continuity.

Electro, I'm reserving judgement on until I actually see the film. But as I've said. As long as Foxx keeps the core elements to the character, his race doesn't matter... considering it's going to be buried under a lot of blue make up and the stuff they use to show off the veins in his neck, not to mention all the CG they're adding for the electricity effects.

Justice League, as far as I know I would need to see the comics and read them to see if what you said was true, but to my knowledge, Manhunter and Cyborg are both still members of the League.

Teen Titans... I only really care for the Anime Series, it was my first experience with them and it's a main-stay part of my Nostalgia Fuel, which is why I see the new Teen Titans GO as a fucking atrocity committed at the hands of Cartoon Network who continues to show the love they have for fans by stabbing them in the back and taunting at season 6 if TTG does well... Ugh.

And yes, I agree with you there probably should be more movies for Black Superheroes. DC could probably do with rebooting Steel, since the Shaq-Attack REAAAAAAAALLLY fucked that up. Black Panther, I hear is in the making. Blade. Possibly due for a reboot. One I'm hoping for is Spawn. I REALLY freakin' love the Spawn animated series and if they mange to get Keith David under the suit for the role... OOOOOHHHHHH, Nostalgia-gasm.

I had Nick Fury in mind, but didn't take him, because it makes sense. There was a Nick Fury movie back in the day with David Hasslehoff playing Nick Fury. That's one thing.
Then Nick Fury had a role in one of Marvels recent blockbusters and it was Samuel L Jackson, who played him, but many of these Marvel movies are somewhat connected to the Ultimate Marvel universe, where Nick Fury actually is a black guy.

Which is a funny story, because the only reason for him being black now is, because the writer Brian Michael Bendis seems to looove black people. Not only did he turn Nick Fury in the Marvel universe into a black guy. He also started pushing up Luke Cage, when he was in charge of the Avengers. Additionally to that Bendis adopted two black children (which is nice for them I guess, since he has the money to take care of them). But then he also killed the Peter Parker in the Ultimate Marvel universe and a young, black guy named Miles Morales became the new Spider-Man.

>_>

I don't quite agree with you on the Kingpin story. To me the character didn't really capture the feel of the real Kingpin. The Kingpin in the movie was far more relaxed and basically behaved like a pimp. The real Kingpin is actually nothing like that. But not that it matters, since it's over and the movie was a disaster anyway. Kingpin being a black guy didn't bother me nearly as much as Colin Farrels performance as Bullseye in the movie.

They're working on a Black Panther movie? That is very interested. Very interesting indeed.

And yeah, you can't go wrong with Spawn. If they want to do me a favor they will have a role for the Man of Miracles in the Spawn movie, since that's the best looking God in comic books.

I do notice that the Marvel Movies are going off the Ultimate Universe, because with the new Spiderman, there is a rumor floating around on the web that someone got a glimps of the Goblins suit, which seems akin to the Ultimate Goblin look, darker green with some spikes and all, but still just rumors. Still, when going off the Ultimate universe, I couldn't think of much of anyone else to play General Fury but Jackson.

Now, I don't really pry into the behind the scenes too much, but if Bendis is actually pushing for a Luke Cage in one of the upcoming movies or appearing in the next Avengers, I wouldn't mind too much, really. Cage might due with a bit of screen time, but I'd need to look more into the character before I made a decision. Adopting the two kids is a noble gesture. I'm glad that they have someone to look after them. And for Spiderman, I heard there was massive backlash for that so they retconned it from the series. I wasn't around for it when it happened, but I was a bit displeased at the decision of that time.

I enjoyed Kingpin in the movie, but that's my opinion. I agree, the movie was a very "Eeehhh" experience, but I'd need to rewatch it sometime when I got the chance. I currently don't have it since the DVD copy I had fried out (or stopped working, whichever works), so I forget a few minor details... other than if they reboot it, no leather-fetish... Daredevil is supposed to be agile and able to manuver, not die from blood loss from the stuff shrinking in the rain. And Bullseye was... Very bleh for my taste. The performace was very lacking.

From what I hear, they might be onto a Black Panther, but no confirmation on that yet.

I can't possibly agree more with you about Spawn. I've been prowling the web for a video on Youtube n' such for the original movie, but no such luck.

And as a last little addition, a movie I was very very displeased with was the Catwoman stand-alone with Haley Berry... Just... Why? I mean, come on. There was everything wrong with that. The outfit did nothing to convey a cat themed burggler other than ears and claws and seemed more like something you'd see at a BDSM club. The character wasn't Seline Kyle. She behaved TOO MUCH like a cat (Seriously, cat nip?). Really, nothing about the character was Catwoman.

well to be honest, electro's race isn't really relevant to what he is as a character so it wouldn't be a big issue so long as he's Β in character.

i'd be a bit on edge on it (considering i'v always seen him as a white dude), but that would be interesting to see. Again, the changing of their skin color won't be an issue if it wasn't really relevant to the character to begin with.

but if that were to happen, two words
