Description
Psylocke Suave Commish: 11x17, Pen/ink, & Photoshop CS5
UPDATE NOTES:
Yeah this one has been a huge back and forth for a lot of reasons.
1.) I used to cel shade my art years ago, before I tried freelancing and couldn't get one publisher to go for it. Now that I don't freelance anymore, I want a cel shade style to contrast against my "Saucy" Watercolor style. BUt it has to be efficient, my older process took forever. I don’t ahve days to color each piece.
2.) So, with that in mind, the file structure for this piece needs to be reproducible and easy to follow for the remaining characters as well as any Game Cave art I'll produce in the future. Tweaking on said file structure has also contributed to image updates.
3.) As you already know, I don't update the same file 15 times often. In fact... I think ever. I will re update an older image every now and then just to let newer followers know about my older art, as a marketing tool fyi. But this piece is a benchmark for future production and its taken me a bit to work it out.
4.) Lastly, to be fair, I haven't posted the Copics for this piece either to cut down on updates lol This was actually a commish, so the art has been traditionally colored as well and those vids are on my youtube channel. So to get this right, I drew it digitally, then inked and shaded it traditionally. Colored it with copics, did a painted version digitally, and then settled on a cel shade style that as digital as well. I've been living Psylocke now for 4 weeks. I'm totally done now lol.

Looks like Olivia Munn will be playing her in the upcoming movie. I think she is a good choice.

Reading the descriptions of your artworks, I was thinking that you usually start with a traditional version, which you then would treat and finalize digitally. I hadn't realized there was such more than that, a kind of a back and forth process between digital and traditional work. Seems like it can, indeed, get very complicated at times! And establishing a strict process for the first artwork will definitely help with the rest of the ones that follow it!
Don't get me wrong, I was not truly complaining about your updates, in fact, since you may have realized by now that I have been posting some of your art on my tumblr ever since I found out about you, I always go back to Psylocke post I already had and match it with your new update to see the changs you made, updating my own with your new version I was just kind of trying to understand if you were always updating it because you were never truly happy with it or if there was something more to it
Keep up the excellent work, Rob, and know that I will be watching! :b and posting my favourites on my tumblr too! I'm always spreading the word about amazing (mainly digital) artistic talent like your own!
