I finished the last chores on my Doctor Who fan fiction story “Haunted” early this morning just in time for Halloween. This one is regarding a monster that lives and hunts in old paintings at an art shop, but the Doctor discovers it's far more dangerous dubbing it the “universe's bogeyman.” I created a cover art for “Haunted” with the Doctor looking back at the monster that resides in canvases of oil.
There are many things I strive for in my own Doctor Who tales featuring the fourth Doctor during the eighteenth season. I like having original monsters in my own stories. I prefer this to returning monsters we have already seen in a dozen stories. I also like setting my tales on alien worlds, and this one is no exception being set on Arctavius being a very commercial planet. I also try to maintain atmosphere in my works, and this one is very much akin to the old gothic horror stories seen in the early Tom Baker years.
