Description
Next up is Felica Hardy, the former Black Cat, now the Amazing Spider-Woman!
I included Felicia after reviewing my initial batch and realizing that I had MJ as the only female variant, and I wanted to increase the feminine representation in this batch. I kind of struggled with what her outfit would look like, until I decided to draw inspiration from another Spider-Character- Jessica Drew. From there, simply changing the colors on Jessica's costume for one's inspired by the Black Cat's was a walk in the park.
For Felicia's backstory in this alternate world, I see her as history as being largely similar to the one from the 616. She still becomes a cat burglar. She still gets involved in a romantic relationship with Spider-Man. And she still goes to the Kingpin to get super powers to allow her to be on equal footing with Spider-Man. However, in this reality, her bad luck powers do far worse than making things difficult for Peter, as they end up accidentally killing him. Horrified by what she's inadvertently done, Felicia kidnaps the scientist who gave her these new abilities and has him change her powers again to be similar to Spider-Man's, and takes up his mantle as the protector of New York as the Amazing Spider-Woman.
Tomorrow, we'll be back to a lighter take on the character, and one from another part of the franchise that tends to get overlooked in events such as these, but is no less important to the overall mythos.
