As with other ideas, this one was bounding around in my head for a while.

I was looking for a "monster" superhero, someone like the Hulk or the Thing- a heroic soul trapped in the body of a savage beast. The original I saw for him was that he was a revolutionary scientist who devised a way to apply certain traits from animals into human subjects. Deaf people could have their hearing improved by giving them a bat's echolocation ability. Or people planning on underwater exploration can have their bodies strengthened to withstand the crushing depths by applying aspects from undersea life.

However, this scientist would be betrayed by his friends who wanted to use this breakthrough for more mercurial ends, selling it off to the highest bidder. He'd try to fight back, but in the struggle he'd become the victim of his own experiments, being injected with the attributes of lions, bears, gorillas, tigers, wolves, sharks and any number of wild animals, twisting and mutating his body into that of a massive beast. Still retaining his human intelligence, this Man-Beast would use his newfound strength and power to hunt down criminals and any wrong doers while searching for a cure to his condition, Swamp Thing style.

For his look, I again wanted to keep it simple. Obviously, the most direct influence was that of a lion for his look. But, to keep up with his chimeric appearance, I added horns and a reptilian tail to his design to make him look like an amalgam of different creatures. The coloring isn't exactly where I'd like it, but that's what further refinement is for.
