Here is a drawing I did of SpongeBob in the style of earlier conceptual art. I wanted to re-incorporate elements that where toned down in the final design to suit TV animation, for example, I doubled the amount of holes so as to make him more Sponge-Like. I also drew the limbs to look more like they are a part of SpeeBob's body. I've always liked adding details to simple designs (mainly Dr. Eggman), and so I really liked sketching up this piece. I did it a while ago, and got it done within about 15 minutes. As a finishing touch I added a little bit of shading by just doodling over a layer on ibisPaint, It may look rough, but I really like how it came out. I am completely clueless when it comes to character design for TV animation, but it would be cool if this more "sketchy" type SpongeBob appears in an animated short or a comic book.
