Description This Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) is diving to grab a rest of chicken from other eagles.

In that place, there is many chicken farming and there is a Bald Eagle festival in early february. Farmers put the dead chicken in some places where photographers can admire and take photos of the eagles.

First, I was a bit shy toward encouraging that kind of methods but it doesn't seem to disturb the eagles, which would anyway be at the local landfill if those chicken would not be recycled that way.

So it is a scavenging which is a kind of "human made" behaviour. I thought it was correct. I enjoyed the eagles flying by. I do not think the same of the snowy owls feeding which show a lot of disturbance with the time.

The plumage of this one shows a pattern which is changing in an adult bird, this would mean this bird is in its fifth year of life.

I am planning on going to Sheffield Mills next year and I can hardly wait...meanwhile, I watch the Decorah Eagles...it's been rumored that now that the "nestorations" are mostly done Mom Decorah is just about ready to lay her eggs. I am such an Eagleholic.

Beautiful photo.
